UK SELECTED AS MEMBER OF ARPA-H INVESTOR CATALYST HUB NETWORK

The University of Kentucky has been selected as a spoke for the Investor Catalyst Hub, a regional hub of ARPANET-H, a nationwide health innovation network launched by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). UK Innovate is leading the initiative in partnership with the UK Office of the Vice President for Research, College of Medicine, Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), Proposal Development Office (PDO) and others


“With this new opportunity to be a spoke in the wheel of innovation, UK has the opportunity to not only advance technologies but transform lives,” says Ian D. McClure, Associate Vice President for Research (AVPR), Innovation and Economic Impact for UK Innovate.

The Kentucky Innovator Challenge brings together leaders from business, service organizations and higher education for a one-day summit to identify the most pressing challenges facing Kentucky and discuss collaborative solutions through research and innovation.  

 

This in-person event, hosted by UK Innovate, aims to cultivate new relationships and lay the foundation for innovative solutions that address the issues faced by our business partners.

UK WOMEN INNOVATORS NETWORK (UKWIN)

Last week, the UK Women Innovators Network (UKWIN) celebrated Women's History Month with its annual UKWIN event.


Taunya A. Phillips, Director of the UK Office of Technology Commercialization, kicked off the afternoon's festivities with introductory remarks, followed by an enlightening keynote address from Dr. Almesha L. Campbell, Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development at Jackson State University.


The panel discussion, led by Dr. Kendra Hargis-Stenzel, featured accomplished female innovators who shared insights into their journeys and the pivotal role of innovation in driving progress. The panelists included Janine Barnett, Perinatal Research Assistant Director, College of Nursing; Dr. April Fernando, Associate Director, Center for Innovation in Population Health; Michelle Fernando, MA, Operations Director, College of Public Health; and Dr. Angela Gutierrez Echeverri, UK SRC Liaison, Postdoctoral Trainee.
