LSDMC: Opening for Parent Rep

The Hyde Park School Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) has an opening for one new parent representative for a two-year term starting Sep '24 and ending in Jun '26.

What is LSDMC?

The LSDMC is the primary governing body for Hyde Park School. This committee gives insight and input into important decisions that greatly impact students’ lives and shape their educational experiences. The committee is comprised of community members, parents, support staff, teachers, and administration.

Do I qualify?

Parent representatives must be a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian of a student at Hyde Park School, and CPS employees may not serve as parent representatives. Candidates should be able to attend all, to the extent practicable, of the LSDMC meetings. Meetings are typically held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 pm.

I'm interested, now what?

If interested, or have additional questions, please contact LSDMC Chair Ed Paff at edpaffjr@gmail.com by Sep 2. We will hold the election for the position at our next PTO meeting on September 4.

Thank you Ed Paff for your leadership in this role!

After School Opportunity: Beginning Strings

Join us after school to learn how to play the violin, viola, or cello! Beginning string instrument instruction led by trained CCM Prep Suzuki teachers will be held at HPS from 2:15pm-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays throughout the school year following Labor Day. This is for all ages, K-6.

Each class is structured to allow students to spend approximately one hour dedicated to learning how to play their instrument and then 45 minutes of games, crafts, or homework help. This class does not meet when the building is closed to students, such as teacher in service days or inclement weather days. Parents are responsible for renting an instrument from a local music store, with guidance from one of our teachers.

Course begins September 3, 2024 and continues until May 14, 2025.
