WATCH SUNDAY'S MESSAGE
April 13, 2025
| | JOIN US FOR A MEANINGFUL HOLY WEEK | | As we journey through the sacred season of Lent, we prepare our hearts to remember Christ’s sacrifice and celebrate His resurrection. Holy Week invites us to walk with Jesus, from His triumphant entry into Jerusalem to His last supper, His suffering on the cross, and finally, the glorious hope of Easter morning. | |
Church of the Servant's
Own Survivor Tree
| | This past Sunday, I related the Survivor Tree at the Oklahoma City Memorial to the persistence we see from Christ in the face of lacking peace in our world. In preparation for the sermon, I was reminded by Servant member and former staff person, Don Cole, that Church of the Servant has its own Survivor Tree. Seeds from the survivor tree have been planted around the world, including just outside of our Community Hall. Our tree faced some of its own adversity as it was cut down multiple times by a former mowing crew and accidentally trampled as well. Don recalls eventually giving up believing the tree growing in that spot was a lost cause. But, true to its name, the tree emerged once again and has now grown into the beautiful tree pictured below. Don says he affectionately calls it the "Survivor of the Survivor of the Survivor Tree." | |
As Oklahoma recognizes the 30th anniversary of the Murrah Building Bombing, we give thanks for the Survivor Tree that symbolizes the resilience of the survivors, first responders, and our OKC community in the face of such violence. This Holy Week, we also give thanks for another tree, the cross which now stands empty, symbolizing that our Lord has conquered death. May both of these be an inspiration to each of us, that we might persist in being beacons of hope, grace, and peace at all times.
Blessings,
Pastor Kyle
