GBCRA's 2024 Scholarship Recipients

GBCRA funded two scholarships that were awarded this spring. One was awarded to Grace Daal, who was a first-year student in the four-year BScN Nursing program. The other was awarded to Crystal Reid, who has just completed the two-year Assaulted Women’s and Children’s Counsellor/Advocate diploma program. Both recipients expressed their appreciation for the encouragement and recognition that these awards bring, as well as for the financial assistance they provided. We are happy to introduce them to GBCRA members, many of whom have donated funds toward these awards.

What's New With Our Members

Musings and Meanderings

In retirement, many of us have discovered new hobbies and activities that have reignited our creative spirits. We, at GBCRA, want to celebrate this creativity by showcasing how various members have been spending their time, whether it's painting, writing, dancing, learning to play an instrument, or taking up a craft. In this newsletter, we are shining a spotlight on Maria Ciampini, retired Early Childhood Education Professor and reignited photographer whose main goal is to show the extraordinary in the ordinary. Maria explains, "Each photo I take is an open invitation to pause and contemplate the beauty that envelops us daily. Whether it's a fleeting moment with a small bird or the vastness of a horizon, I aim to forge deep connections with my subjects."

Her work is a testament to the power of creativity in retirement. If you have a creative pursuit you'd like to share with us, please let us know. We'd love to feature you in our next newsletter. Contact us at feedback@gbcra.ca
