Advocacy Network on Disabilities' Reading Difficulties & Dyslexia Trainings * | New Course! Reading Difficulties and Dyslexia: This interactive course increases after-school providers’ awareness of how reading difficulties and dyslexia may impact students’ academic performance and affect their behavior. By increasing understanding, after-school staff may recognize “this child may not be doing their homework because they have a condition that interferes with their ability to read, rather than having a behavior problem." Local resources are provided as well as simple strategies to help students with reading challenges. | |

Hope for Miami's Kidz2Success Afterschool and Summer Camp Programs
This week we are featuring Hope for Miami and their Kidz2Success Afterschool and Summer Camp Program funded by The Trust. The Kidz2Success program focuses on skill-building and students participate in literacy activities, science experiments and general academics each day. These activities combat summer learning loss that happens when children take a long break from their regular school days. Kidz2Success is located at eight sites across Miami-Dade County and offers unique and affordable activities for children and youth in grades K-12.

Game On-Community Place to Play Initiative Grants are Open |
Game On-Community Places to Play is an initiative of The DICK’s Sporting Goods Foundation and LISC. The initiative provides funding and technical assistance to community-rooted organizations working to create and renovate multi-use youth sport spaces for youth ages 6-24 years old in under-resourced communities across the country. Special consideration will be given to proposals that demonstrate how their capital projects will support youth development programming.
The goal is to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local athletic spaces for young people. Grant awards will range from $50,000-$100,000 and will require 1:1 match funding. Funds will be awarded to outdoor and indoor facilities that enable and demonstrate local community access and usage for all organized youth sports, including but not limited to basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse and volleyball. Youth development program services should include, but are not limited to, life skills workshops, civic engagement and leadership, workforce development and academic support.
Non-profit community-based organizations leading renovation projects are eligible to apply. This includes schools and local parks and recreation departments that are collaborating with local non-profits. Universities and college campuses are not eligible for this initiative. Interested organizations should carefully review the Request for Proposals (RFP) below, which outlines eligibility and selection criteria. The application deadline is September 5, 2024.

The Accountant is responsible for reviewing and critically analyzing financial information and provider/vendor documents and with an emphasis on maintaining quality internal control standards. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing, maintaining reviewing, and analyzing accounting records in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards.
Solutions Specialist - $61,565.02 Annual
The Solutions Specialist executes on solutions design in response to business priorities and vetted requirements. This position conducts unit testing and validates use cases to ensure solution aligns with requirements. This position maintains and implements routine solutions under the guidance of senior Technology Design Solutions (TDS) team members.
Research & Evaluation Analyst - $61,565.02 Annual
The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth, and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.
This position works under general supervision and support of the director of research. Work performance is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results achieved.

Director of High School Programs
Responsible for planning and implementing programming for Breakthrough Miami’s high school students to ensure they are prepared for academic success in high school and successfully transition to college. The Director will work closely with students and families as they navigate the high school years and hold students to high academic and community standards. During the school year, the Director will plan Saturday programming, monitor academic progress, set goals for inside and outside the classroom, and navigate school and other community resources to ensure students stay on track for college.
The individual in this role is self-motivated, creative and an excellent communicator, who is able to develop and maintain key relationships.
Development Coordinator - Events, Engagement & Stewardship
As a connector between donors and the program, the Development Coordinator will collaboratively develop stewardship and engagement plans and support special events management to create meaningful experiences and connections. Responsible for efficiently and effectively delivering programs and services directly affecting Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers, and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.
