From fearless leaders to unsung heroes, women have always been at the forefront of positive change. Their resilience, passion, and unwavering spirit inspire us all to dream big and strive for greatness.
Let's take a moment to honor the women who've paved the way for progress and recognize the amazing women right here in our district who are making a difference every single day.
Whether it's through leadership, entrepreneurship, or simply lending a helping hand, their impact is immeasurable. Together, let's continue to lift each other up, support one

Groundbreaking Ceremony at
Brays Oaks Crossing

Some exciting news for District K. Alongside Brays Oaks Management District officials, District K community members and staff we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for our district's very first Starbucks!
As we continue to prioritize economic development in our community, this milestone marks a significant step forward. We're thrilled to see the Brays Oaks Crossing commercial site expanding and look forward to welcoming even more businesses to the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 4th at 10890 South Sam Houston Pkwy West, right at West Airport Blvd. This prime location, already home to a McDonald's, is set to become a bustling hub for dining and shopping.
But wait, there's more! The developer is hard at work to bring additional restaurants and retail businesses to the 9.5-acre tract, making this intersection a vibrant gateway between southwest Houston and Sugar Land. The property will feature a Tesla e-vehicle charging station, adding a modern touch to our growing community.
The journey ahead is bright, and we're thrilled to embark on it together.

Celebrating Women's History Month:
Honoring Trailblazers

I had the immense pleasure of honoring five remarkable women who were recognized as Trailblazers during the Black History Celebration by the Houston Black Fire Fighter Association. These incredible women made "Her-Story" when they joined the Houston Fire Department as part of the Class of 1993. Back then, they were the only African American female firefighters in the entire Houston area!
Fast forward to today, out of the 3,626 firefighters in Houston, we have 580 African Americans, and among them, 34 are African American females. Let's take a moment to
congratulate these phenomenal public safety Trailblazers for their outstanding contributions and dedication to serving our community. They truly embody the spirit of resilience, courage, and excellence.

The City of Houston’s Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) is gearing up to host their Spring 2024 Community Meetings, and they want you to be a part of it.
There are in-person and virtual meetings, so you can choose the option that suits you best. These meetings are an excellent opportunity for community members and stakeholders. Every year, HCD receives approximately $50 million in federal grants to assist families with:

- Discussion on services offered, including:
- Affordable housing
- Supportive services
- Public improvements and infrastructure
- Open house (in-person meeting only)
- Small group discussions
- Interactive polls or activities
