2024 Library Award for Undergraduate Research

Six UCSB undergraduate students received the sixth annual Library Award for Undergraduate Research (LAUR) for producing a creative or scholarly work that made expert and sophisticated use of the Library's collections, resources and services.

The 2024 award was generously supported by a gift from Dr. Jenny Cook-Gumperz, faculty emerita.

National Endowment for the Humanities Grant Award
The Library has been awarded a $350,000 grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to document and digitize music recordings from the 1920s and 1930s.

The grant award supports the American Record Corporation (ARC) Access Initiative of the American Discography Project.

Resource Spotlight: Streaming Media Collections
UCSB affiliates enjoy free access to streaming media collections, including documentaries and feature films, thanks to Library subscription services and databases.

The Santa Barbara Independent and KCSB-FM featured interviews with Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross, the authors of the UCSB Reads 2024 book "Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us."
New Endowed Lecture Series
The Library received a gift from antiquarian bookseller and philanthropist Kenneth Karmiole ’68 to establish the Kenneth Karmiole Annual Lecture Series on Religion in American Life.

The new endowed lecture series supports the promotion, visibility and research potential of the hallmark American Religions Collection.
