2024 Blue Thumb Resilient Yards Workshop

Beautify your landscape while planting for clean water and pollinator habitat.

Blue Thumb workshops walk through the steps to create rain gardens, native plantings, pollinator habitat, and more. Use our free online learning series, register for a live virtual or in-person workshop, or do both! Your yard can be the change.

All registrants who sign up for a free online learning series or live workshop will be entered to receive a $400 Lawns to Legumes grant, supported by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources.

Our workshops this year include Resilient Shorelines, Resilient Yards/Pollinator Plantings, and Turf Alternatives. These workshops share actions home gardeners can take to protect clean water, create pollinator habitat, and mitigate the impact of extreme heat and flooding rains.

In-person and virtual workshops are $15, some workshops offer a sliding scale option. The online learning series is free to everyone.

For more information and to register, visit our website. For questions, call 651-699-2426 or email info@bluethumb.org.

NRP Policy Board Election Results

During the Community Connections Conference on Feb. 17, the City hosted the new Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) Policy Board selection process. The NRP Policy Board oversees the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and approves NRP funding plan changes for neighborhood organizations called plan modifications.

The board has representatives from:

  • The mayor

  • Hennepin County Board of Commissioners
  • State House of Representatives

Minneapolis neighborhood electors selected eight people for the board according to their district. CIDNA falls into two districts: 4 and 6. We also congratulate our board member, Pamela Taylor-Berry, on her election to one of the At-large seats. You can see the district map here.

  • District 1: Joy Smallfield
  • District 2: Nate Lockett
  • District 3: Ron Schlatter
  • District 4: Noah Cameron
  • District 5: Kate Gens
  • District 6: Becky McIntosh
  • At-large: Pamela Taylor-Berry and Mary Watson

The first meeting of the NRP Policy Board is tentatively scheduled for the last week of March.
