PTSA NEWS

Staff Appreciation Week Wrap-up

May 6-10 was Staff Appreciation Week and our community and PTSA really pulled together to shower the entire RHS staff with wonderful lunches and treats all week. A HUGE shoutout to Peggy, Mona, Kyle, Lisa, and Tracey for volunteering to setup and cleanup these events. We couldn’t do it without them and all of our generous parents who donated food/drinks. Thank you!

Finally, a run-down of the week’s events:

Jersey Mike's sandwiches

Monday was a staff luncheon with Jersey Mike’s sandwiches, chips, and drinks.

Staff pick up snack treat.

Tuesday’s Snack Attack is a fan favorite – like adult trick or treating for snacks to provide little pick-me-ups throughout the week.

Los Chilangos food truck lunch

Wednesday, Los Chilangos food truck parked in the courtyard and provided staff meals while they enjoyed music and the amazing sunshine.

Hand-crafted treat boxes.

Thursday, each staff member received a hand-crafted treat box.

Sweet treats for staff.

Friday capped off the week with sugar, sugar, sugar! The Sweet Treats we provided will surely catapult them into the weekend on a sugar high.

Recognize Someone with an Award

Each year RHS PTSA looks for input from RHS staff, parents, students, and community in identifying and recommending exceptional volunteers, staff, and students who have demonstrated excellence in serving our school community this school year. Awards are presented to honorees at RHS in several award categories, including:

  • Golden Acorn
  • Golden Mustang
  • Outstanding Educator
  • Outstanding Advocate
  • Outstanding Student
  • Honorary Life Membership

Descriptions of each award and the nomination form can be found on the PTSA Awards page of our website. Recommendations can be sent to RHS PTSA Attn: Awards, 17272 NE 104TH, Redmond, WA 98052 or you may email recommendations to awards@redmondhsptsa.org. Please note that you may nominate more than one person for each award and you do not need to nominate someone for each award. Nominations must be received by Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Grad Night Celebration Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers Needed

Each year after graduation the PTSA organizes Grad Night Celebration, a safe, drug and alcohol-free, all-night event. Events like this aren’t possible without the support of amazing volunteers. Although we welcome senior parents to volunteer, it is our goal that this event be organized and chaperoned by parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. It's a way for underclassman parents to pay-it-forward so that senior parents can have a relaxing evening after the graduation ceremony.

Please consider volunteering on Thursday, June 13 to help make this night amazing. Sign up here.

Drivers Needed

The school is looking for approved volunteer parents to help drive some students to UW Bothell's College Awareness Day on Friday, May 17. The school has transportation for about half the students attending but needs drivers to get the other half there and back to the school. Departure would be from RHS at 8:30am and pick up from UW Bothell at around 2pm. Drivers do not need to stay for the event. If you would like to volunteer or need more information, please contact Rose Wu (rwu@lwsd.org) from the College and Career Center.
