Submissions Needed for a Diversity Quilt
To accompany the Arts and Culture Series events, the ARTF is organizing the making of a wall hanging quilt that will have contributions from around the conference. The team invites people to submit a quilt square for the project. The final product will be shared at the 2025 Annual Conference session. They will also prepare a booklet about the projects and those who contributed squares. Learn more.

Rev. Christian Coon is Named Director of Congregational Development
Bishop Dan Schwerin has appointed Rev. Christian Coon as Northern Illinois Conference Director of Congregational Development, effective July 1. Rev. Coon will follow Rev. Martin Lee, who retires on July 1. Reflecting on this position, Rev. Coon said, “I’m very excited to step into this position to resource and support our existing churches while also working with others to dream about other faith communities we might start." Read more.

Donations for this special Sunday support programs and ministries to educate, equip and mobilize actions in support of identified Economic, Health, and Gender Justice Priorities. Half of the funds collected on this Special Sunday remain in the Annual Conference.

This is a continuation of the April 13 event to discuss and engage with Youth Leaders to wrestle with and share insights on leading youth to grow into critical-thinking, racial justice-minded followers of Jesus Christ. JOY Camp Registration Open!
JOY Camp is a week-long overnight camp open to incoming 5th Grade students through newly graduated high school seniors hosted at Camp Reynoldswood. The camp runs from June 23rd to June 29th and has a total cost of $590 with discounts available for early registration (prior to June 1st), siblings, and payment in full at registration. Learn more.

Do you have news to share?
We are always looking for stories of what is happening in your church. We welcome articles from churches highlighting ministries, outreach, and missions that tell the story of being vital Christians. Events considered should be of conference-wide appeal and United Methodist-related.
District eNews are sent out the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Please submit stories and events by end of business on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Space is limited. Stories of fewer than 250 words are preferred. Submissions will be edited at the discretion of Communications staff. Information can be emailed to communications@umcnic.org.
