Treat a New Teacher to Breakfast!
Sponsor a New Teacher for Breakfast on Monday, July 31, 2024. Your sponsorship of $45 covers the cost of breakfast for you and a teacher.

The Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce is a collection site for the Toys for Tots Backpack Campaign to support Elementary school children of Charlotte County, teachers and schools. Through July 7th, there will be a collection box in the Chamber office for school supplies, and we appreciate any support you can provide. They are looking for items like, 24pk crayons, glue sticks, disinfectant wipes, pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, binders, index cards, tissues, fidgets, zip lock bags, markers and backpacks. Charlotte Players- Kids Onstage Summer Workshop. June 3-7 & 10-14. Performances on June 14th at 7p and 15th at 2p. Students will have hands-on experiences in all facets of theatrical production. This includes backstage, scenic design, props, costumes, music, and sound as well as performing on stage. Children entering 1st grade all the way thru students entering 12th grade can attend. By addressing critical areas such as gender equity, intergenerational differences and ageism, AI Adoption across skill levels, and many other topics we aim to cultivate a skilled workforce and drive economic prosperity in the region.

The Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association is seeking a part-time (approximately 20-30 hours per week) administrative assistant to help handle daily office operations. This position requires office setting experience, outstanding customer service communication, organizational detail, and strong Microsoft Office skills. Duties may include: Answering phones; assisting visitors; handling payment transactions; answering general inquiries; conducting facility tours; advertising sales, assisting with The Commentator monthly magazine; creating fliers and advertisements as needed; adding/editing classes and events to calendar app; and assisting with events. Charlotte County Imagination Library, an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and a program of Gilstad Literacy Foundation, Inc., received 3 donations in May to support the program which mails a free book to enrolled children every month from birth until age 5. All Charlotte County preschool age children are eligible to participate in the program. The Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club donated $24,537.39. The Englewood Moose Lodge #1933 donated $2,600.00 and Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Gamma Nu Chapter donated $715.00. Together these donations will provide 1,072 children with 12,864 books.
