Stallions in the Spotlight

Last week Freshmen Theology classes spent time in the Holy Family Courtyard to pray a Living Rosary. They led reflections they personally created in honor of the Blessed Mother, the perfect disciple and our spiritual Mother.

Chick-fil-A owner/operator Paul Rankin and Director of Operations Brailey Murphy spoke to our Entrepreneurship class about the qualities of an entrepreneur and how to approach business, people and their ideas. Their insights on the Chick-fil-A culture and purpose were inspiring and insightful.

Congratulations to freshman Cameron Moore on his performance with the Delaware Youth Wind Symphony on Sunday. Cameron played the Baritone Saxophone in this performance.

Seniors took part in the annual CAP (Civic Action Project) Fair last week; congrats on a job well done!

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who celebrated at our Spring College Commitment day last week: Row 1: Luke Aaron (Soccer - Franciscan University), Grace Dziatkowicz (Soccer - Otterbein University), Aidan Shepardson (Soccer - Lake Erie College), Isabella Felter (Rowing - The Ohio State University), Katherine Dortmund (Track and Field - Ohio Wesleyan University); Row 2: Joe Couhig (Golf - Lewis University), Josh Wade (Lacrosse - John Carroll University), Avery Garlock (Football - Marian University), Raesean Betton (Football - University of Indianapolis), Cooper Simpson (Lacrosse - Cornell University), Isabella Swallow (Track and Field - University of Akron); Row 3: Holden Osborne (Baseball - Walsh University), Cameron Gwinn (Football - Toledo University), Jack Elgin (Football - Valparaiso University), Kenyetietta Quinn (Track and Field - Marshall University), Bridget Womber (Basketball - University of Charleston), Neal Ritchie (Lacrosse - St. Vincent College).

Photo of the Week: Serving others through music

The SFD Choir performed at the 35th Annual "Playing from the Heart" Benefit Concert for Nationwide Children's Heart Hospital last night.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The Student Wellness Team and Mind Over Matter Club will be following the theme from Mental Health America “Where to Start.” There have been tremendous strides in the conversation surrounding mental health, but still many people are unsure on #WhereToStart. Throughout the month, Mind Over Matter will be posting on their Instagram page encouraging self care activities, as well as where to find resources available in the building and in the community. We encourage you to learn more about #WhereToStart through this link: https://mhanational.org/mental-health-month.

Attention Rising Seniors and Juniors: Youth at the Booth Opportunity for Franklin County

This program allows 17 or 18 year old students (no matter their grade) to serve as Poll Workers on Election Day, November 5th, 2024. The students attend a 2-hour training and serve at a Polling Location close to their homes. The program pays students for serving an equal amount as the adult Poll Workers and is a great volunteer opportunity that gives High School credit and adds to their resumes. Youth at the Booth Poll Workers are greatly appreciate as they often grow to serve more than once and become some of the best Poll Workers. This upcoming Presidential Election, November 5th 2024 is going to cause a great need for Poll Workers all across Franklin County.

ATTENTION CURRENT JUNIOR STUDENTS/PARENTS!

*All junior students are required to submit verification of a second dose (given on or after their 16th birthday) of the Meningococcal conjugate (MenACWY) vaccine prior to the start of their senior year. It is a requirement in Ohio for all incoming seniors. Families can email the updated immunization record to the School Nurse, Kelli Fitzpatrick, BSN, RN, LSN, at fitzpatrick@desales.co or bring in a hard copy to school.

2023-2024 Sick Policy

Sick children often expose other students and school staff members to illnesses and germs. These illnesses are disruptive to the educational process and to other children and their families. Students who are ill should be kept home to help control the spread of germs. Please follow the guidelines linked here to help keep our school safe and healthy.

Spiritual Reflection

Jesus, you tell us that the ruler of the world has no power over you. Oh, to have that freedom! We are too enslaved by appearances and the expectations of others. It wears down our spirits. Loving God our Father, doing God’s will, and knowing that we are beloved of you and the Father—ah—there is true peace. May we have more of your peace and less of the world’s in our lives. Amen.
