Lunar New Year

In 2024, the Lunar New Year, welcomes the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac. This auspicious occasion is marked by vibrant festivities, cultural traditions, and family gatherings in Asian communities globally.

During the Lunar New Year festivities, people engage in various customs such as cleaning their homes to sweep away bad luck, exchanging gifts, and enjoying elaborate feasts with symbolic dishes. Traditional activities like dragon and lion dances, fireworks display, and the giving of red envelopes containing money symbolize luck and prosperity for the coming year. It's a time of joy, renewal, and reflection on cultural heritage and familial bonds.

International Student Support Group

The International Student Support Group aims to create a space where fellow international students can connect, share experiences, and support each other. This group will start in the first/second week of February (days and timings to be decided on the basis of participant preferences as shared during the pre-group meetings). We will be meeting every Friday from 2-3 pm in the Counseling and Wellness Service group room. This is an open group, you do not need any pre-meetings or interviews to join.

We are currently looking for up to 7-8 students to join this support group. If you are interested or know someone who might benefit from being a part of this community, please reach out to me at hira.3@wright.edu. Your involvement and referrals would be greatly appreciated!

Students can also to register for this group through:
