Hello Long Beach State!
The semester is not over yet, and it is an undoubtedly challenging time for students as we make our way through finals. Whether you’ll be back in the fall, or we bid you farewell as you move into your next chapter, let us take a moment to step back and reflect on this year's events and accomplishments.
I have been happy to attend various events throughout the year where I had the honor of meeting members of our student body and listening to their concerns and needs. Most recently, I attended the groundbreaking for the new residential complex, “La Playa,” meant to provide affordable housing for our students in need. Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet many of our students at the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center (IPCDC) grant presentation. My administration is proud to have helped obtain a $3.4 million grant by sharing Long Beach State University (LBSU) parent stories and the benefits this grant would provide them.
ASI has remained committed to “Keeping Students First” and in my role I have prioritized programs and initiatives that will enhance students' experience at LBSU. This year in collaboration with the Basic Needs office, we launched the TAP Card program. The program provided students with one month of free transportation. Our goal was to relieve financial stress for our students who rely on Long Beach Public Transit. Additionally, we launched our Day 1 Textbook Access (D1TA) program this year. College course textbooks often carry a hefty price tag that creates a greater financial burden for our students. These programs and initiatives are a result of students' needs for them.
As your ASI President this year, I have remained unwavering in my commitment to the interests of our students and campus. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to my fellow students, my administration, my esteemed colleagues, senators and ASI community members for their support, enthusiasm and dedication. To celebrate all that we have accomplished together, please check out my State of Associated Students address.
As always, Go Beach!
