A Message From our Executive Director

As we begin another exciting year I would like to say thank you to everyone who has consistently and generously supported Habitat’s mission to create a community where everyone has an opportunity for a safe, decent, affordable place to call home. Although we have experienced some unforeseen barriers this past year, we are fortunate to start 2024 year firing on all cylinders! Thanks to extraordinary efforts from hard-working staff, dedicated volunteers, and a generous community we were able to pivot quickly and build a better future.

The need for affordable housing in Nevada County is more urgent than ever. More than half of all adults have made at least one hard tradeoff to cover increasing housing costs. Together, we are making a lasting impact. Thank you for being a part of our Habitat family. We look ahead with great optimism and hope, and I thank you for your unwavering support and kindness.

CONSTRUCTION NEWS: Angela's Home Update

The garage floor is finished and the first-floor walls have been raised! Thank you volunteers!

Despite the rain, the construction team has made great progress and the subfloor and first-floor walls are up! DREAM BUILDERS!

As a locally supported nonprofit, the work we do is only made possible through local support. You support Habitat by volunteering, engaging with us in the community and online, shopping at the ReStore, and through your generous gifts and donations.

Every month we will be highlighting the ways you give to Habitat through a special FB post because we want to recognize the myriad of efforts that make Habitat’s mission possible. At Habitat we know that stable affordable homeownership is transformative for low-income families, and we can only do this work because of you.

To kick off our year of gratitude we’d like to recognize and thank our Dream Builders circle. Dream Builders commit to a monthly donation to support Habitat’s mission. Many also generously donate their time to help build homes, support events, participate on volunteer committees, and are Habitat advocates in our community. We are grateful for your support and leadership in generosity, thank you!

A Message from ReStore Manager, Mary

Hello Nevada County its Mary from Restore. Around this time last year we had unprecedented snow levels and power outages. But hey this is Nevada County! Instead of these circumstances holding us back they have made us stronger. Through goodwill, love, and perseverance, we bonded with our community and families in support and togetherness.

We have an amazing community of people which reflect our values and potential growth. We receive generous donations every day of amazing useable goods. This enables us to create funds to build homes for families in need in our community. When you and your friends volunteer at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, the gift of your valuable time enables us continue our mission of building affordable houses and making homeownership dreams come true.

Cars for Homes!

Last year we saw a significant increase in the number of local people who donated their old cars to the national vehicle donation program, Habitat's Cars For Homes. Thank you for your local support!
