Bible Study

John 17:6-16

“I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you, for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me. I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I have been glorified in them. 11 And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves. 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth."

Questions:

+What is Jesus praying for?

+What does it mean to be one with Christ?

+What might it mean to be sanctified in truth?

+What is truth?

+How does God equip us to go into the world on God’s behalf?

Blessings, Pastor Ann.

Pastor Ann and Theresa will be on vacation May 5th (after the party) and will return May 20th. During this time if there is an emergency contact Merlene at president@newdaylutheran.org or call her at 208-317-3757 or contact any council member. The newsletter will still go out both weeks they are gone.

Are you interested in occasional worship leadership?

If you're interested in occasionally leading worship at New Day or ELCA locations? Congregations are looking for individuals that are willing to be trained as authorized Lay Leaders to preach and preside. These could be opportunities at New Day or other congregations. Talk with Pastor Ann if you want to learn more about what this might look like.

5.12.24 Bulletin

5.19.24 Bulletin

This past Sunday's service in case you missed it!

What "month" is it?

I've been trying to call our attention to various ways we can be aware of those around us, such as Black History Month, Volunteer Month, and Women's History Month. There are several things we can call our attention to this month: Asian American & Pacific Islanders, Haitian Heritage, Jewish American Heritage, Mental Health Awareness, and National Military Appreciation. This week, let's be mindful of the various mental health issues that people face. Here's an opportunity to learn... This was shared by Pastor Christy from Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Blackfoot...

Summer Food Service Program does not have a sponsor and summer lunch funding was turned down by the Idaho Legislature. Community Food Basket will try to take up some of the slack with food bags of individual kid friendly foods given to families during the summer. CFB is asking for donations specific for that program and also for volunteers to help fill the bags and distribute them.

You can bring egg cartons to church and we will make sure they get them.

2024 ELCA Youth Gathering

Robert and Anora are excited to have the opportunity to attend

the 2024 ELCA Youth Gathering held in New Orleans this coming summer!

They needed to raise $4500 total for the trip.

Before the Raffle Basket Fundraiser,

they had raised from Noisy Offerings and Mardi Gras a total of $2679.36!

The Raffles and meal donations brought in $2396.60 and of that,

we shared $500 with Savannah to help her reach her goal too!!

That means we added $1896.60 to our balance

which gives us $4575.96!!!!

Good job good and faithful servants!!!!

What do we do with the excess raised money and the next 2 noisy offerings?

We plan to use the extra money to do fun activities with all the kids in the congregation. Maybe a movie night? We shall see!!

Noisy Offering

We will have a noisy offering the first Sunday of the month through July to assist the youth in doing a fun activity. Bring your loose pocket change, or the entire change jar!
