Highlighting OB & Meeting Updates

Community meetings are integral in understanding what is going on in the neighborhood and to hear from community members. This past month, there were many community meetings happening around the neighborhood about various topics like chemical clean-ups, state of the ward, air quality, the RTA, and more. 

OBFM season kicks off on July 11!



It’s summer in Cleveland and that can only mean two things: crazy weather and the Old Brooklyn Farmers Market is back! Whether you’re a market pro or a rookie, you're in for a surprise this year.

Not only can you get some fresh produce and tasty goodies, but you can stop by for a drink at the Schnitz Ale Beer Garden and listen to a weekly show supported by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Our market is also supported by Cleveland Clinic and of course, the community.

Submit your recipes for the Old Brooklyn News

OBCDC is looking for a variety of recipes for the print version of the Old Brooklyn News! Some examples from past editions include beverages, soups, salads, vegetable dishes, main dishes, breads, and desserts.

Share your original recipe with an image by August 2nd to sandyw@oldbrooklyn.com for your recipe to be considered. Although we cannot respond to all emails, you will be hearing from us if we select your recipe to appear in the September or December edition of the Old Brooklyn News. We can't wait to see what you've got!

Explore the neighborhood during GardenWalk Cleveland!

GardenWalk Cleveland is back in Old Brooklyn on July 13! There are so many hidden gems in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood, including lush gardens of flowers, vegetables, and more. GardenWalk is a fantastic way to meet your neighbors and explore the neighborhood in a new way by walking through the gardens Old Brooklyn has to offer.

The event takes place over two days (July 13-14) in various Cleveland neighborhoods like Old Brooklyn, Detroit Shoreway, Tremont, and Collinwood. This is a great opportunity to get to know not only your neighborhood, but the city of Cleveland in a new way.

Slow Roll Cleveland will be rolling through OB July 8 – Join the fun! 

Slow Roll is coming to Old Brooklyn on July 8! Slow Roll is a gathering that bridges communities through inclusive, leisurely, social bike rides. Gatherings like this help to activate spaces and allow residents to explore their neighborhoods in new ways. Slow Roll is happening in various neighborhoods around the city, with the Old Brooklyn kick off at Loew Park. Join in on the fun on July 8 at 7pm - show up early for food from FrankieLynn Hot Dogs!

Ben Franklin Community Garden welcomes Music in the Garden all summer long

The Ben Franklin Community Garden has so many things to offer, including the Music in the Garden: Summer Music Series that features musicians from around the area. These free concerts bring you the sounds of talented local groups like Opus 216 Quartet, Sororii, and the Tim McDonald Jazz Quartet while you sit back and relax in the garden with your neighbors. Concerts take place at 6pm on the 1^st and 3^rd Saturdays of the month through September. See you there!
