LOOK AHEAD IN 2024

Hope this year is off to a great start. Happy Lunar New Year to those who are celebrating this special year of the wood dragon.

As the number of Asian-owned businesses increased by 26.2% from 2017 to 2021 in Houston’s AAPI community, the chamber continues to work harder to foster economic and business development through civic advocacy, networking, collaboration and connections through our events and programs.

We are kicking off the year with our annual Trade Forum on February 23, 2024. According to Greater Houston Partnership’s 2023 Global Report, Asia is the number one trade region with $54.6 billion of imports and $76.7 billion of exports to and from the Greater Houston area. The forum will discuss import/export trade and the opportunities/risks involved in moving to a global market, especially in Asia. Come meet government representatives from the various trade regions across Asia and North America and learn what the City of Houston is doing to expand support for international trade. We hope to see you at the upcoming expo and luncheon.

The Chamber is pleased to welcome two new board members, Kimel Hodges and Daniel Yoo. We are looking forward to their contributions to the board and the chamber. You can read more about them below. ACC is also excited to launch our new website along with several new features. We are offering a more simplified process to become a member.  You will be able to purchase tickets and pay for sponsorships directly through our website. The membership portal will allow members to easily update their profiles as well as access our directory and connect with one another.

Be on the lookout for more information on upcoming events. There are plenty of opportunities to not only attend our events, but also join a planning committee.

We hope the year of the dragon (the luckiest of the 12 animals) brings you all unprecedented opportunities, good health and good fortune in 2024. The chamber looks forward to working with you and serving the community.

Sincerely,

Sydney Dao
