The America's Newspapers Foundation is pleased to announce that Cribb, Cope & Potts, a Silver Solutions Partner member of America's Newspapers, has become the latest company to generously contribute a scholarship for the upcoming Executive Development Program.


Together with Software Consulting Services (SCS) and Seyfarth Shaw LLP, both Gold Solutions Partner members of America’s Newspapers, their support will enable promising newspaper industry professionals to attend this prestigious leadership training event in New Orleans this July.

Two additional representatives sign on as co-sponsors for Community News Act

Two additional Congressional representatives have signed on as co-sponsors of the Community News & Small Business Support Act (H.R. 4756), bringing the number of sponsors/co-sponsors to 48.


Newly added are: Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-12) and Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX-35).

Make plans now to attend the premier event for senior newspaper executives! Registration is now officially open for both newspaper executives and Solutions Partners for the America's Newspapers 2024 Senior Leadership Conference taking place Oct. 20-22 in historic Charleston, South Carolina.

Registration is open for the Family & Independent Owners Meeting, to be held Oct. 18-19, just before the Senior Leadership Conference. The Family & Independent Owners meeting is a unique opportunity to gather and collaborate with other newspaper families that have similar business organizations, challenges and opportunities.


The Family & Independent Owners meeting is intended for owners and family members directly involved in the newspaper organization of independently-owned newspapers. The C-Suite/Senior Executive/Publisher of these newspapers can also be invited to attend by the organization’s owner to represent the company. 


The Family & Independent Owners meeting is open to America’s Newspapers members.

Terence Samuel is leaving USA TODAY after one year as editor-in-chief.


Caren Bohan, USA TODAY’s executive editor for politics, was named interim editor-in-chief as the company conducts a national search for its next newsroom leader.

Phillip Morris joins Star Tribune as opinion editor and vice president


The Star Tribune Media Company, the largest news organization in the Midwest, has announced the addition of Phillip Morris to its executive staff as opinion editor and vice president. He joins the Star Tribune with more than three decades of media experience including nearly 30 years at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as a longtime editorial writer and metro columnist.

Superior Telegram, Pine Journal welcome new editor in Minnesota


Kristine Goodrich is the new community editor for the Superior Telegram (Duluth, Minnesota) and Cloquet Pine Journal.


She joined the editorial team of Duluth Media Group on June 10 following previous editor Jen Zettel-Vandenhouten’s departure from the newsroom in November.

Paxton Media Group acquires four titles from Rust Communications


The community newspapers in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Brazil, Greencastle and Greene County, Indiana, are under new ownership, effective July 1. Paxton Media Group has acquired the titles from Cape Girardeau, Missouri-based Rust Communications.
