NECC News: May 2024
🍃 Over the past few weeks, we've been getting in the spring cleaning groove and repairing rooms affected by the January storm. You might have noticed contractors working hard in the center. We've got some updates on this below!

But it's not all work and no play here. We've also got an exciting line-up of community programs & opportunities to support our fellow Northeast neighbors. 🏡
Upcoming Dates:
Welcome Our New
Interim Executive Director!
🎉 Bri Slusser 🎉

After a rigorous selection process, the Northeast Community Center Board of Directors has appointed Sabrina “Bri” Slusser as our new Interim Executive Director.

With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Bri brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to this vital role. Her time as CEO of the Humane Society of Central Oregon and extensive management experience with the YMCA make her exceptionally well-suited to lead us forward during this transitional period. With her leadership, we are confident that the NECC will continue to thrive and grow, setting a clear path for our future success.

We are grateful for Bri’s commitment to guiding our community through this transition, and we look forward to working closely with her to ensure a smooth and successful tenure.

Please join us in welcoming Bri to the NECC!

Facility Update

Drumroll 🥁 please! We’re excited to announce that repairs have begun in areas throughout our building affected by the January snowstorm. We know it’s been a long wait, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we worked through some delays related to our insurance claim.

Painting has already been completed and this week workers will begin repairing the flooring and trim. We’ll continue providing updates throughout this process and appreciate your patience as we move forward with repairs!

💚 Help Support the NECC! 💚

Did you know that your IRA and Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) could help NECC provide programs to our community?

What's an RMD?
This is taxable money you must withdraw each year from retirement accounts like IRAs once you reach age 72 (73 if you turned 72 in or after 2023).
Why Should I Donate My RMD?
If you have an RMD on your own account or an inherited account and you do not need the funds, donating to the NECC is a fantastic option that helps support our programs!
Your required withdrawal will be included in your taxable income and cannot be rolled into other tax-deferred accounts. However, donating your RMD is a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). Tax benefits aside, earmarking this income for charity is a great way to begin or expand your giving portfolio to support the causes you care about.

NECC's tax ID is 20-2154935
