📢 Early Bird Ticket Deadline Is This Wednesday 📢

WDIY's Family Fun Day — Groovin' in the Grove 2024 is right around corner, and we can't wait to see everybody at South Mountain Grove in 2½ weeks! This is a friendly reminder that the deadline to purchase discounted Early Bird Tickets is this Wednesday.

We hope you can join us for our 29th birthday celebration on Saturday, May 18 under a covered pavilion for a rain or shine event. The grove will be groovin' with the sounds of the Lehigh Valley's own James Supra/Sarah Ayers Band. And of course, all proceeds support WDIY.

This Week on WDIY

MONDAY 4/29

WDIY Classics

Host: Andrew Tomlinson

Monday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The centerpieces of today’s program are Johannes Brahms’ first piano concerto (in an exciting recent recording by András Schiff on an 1850s piano) and Robert Schumann’s anguished song cycle, Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love): two works written 15 years apart, and both closely connected to Clara Schumann, herself an accomplished pianist, who married Robert in the year that Dichterliebe was written, and later acted as a mentor to the young Brahms, playing the piano solo part in some of the earliest performances of his piano concerto. We’ll also hear Samuel Barber’s wonderful violin concerto, and three of Corelli’s landmark Concerti Grossi from 1714 – all punctuated by instrumental music from 16th Century Spain.

Hear this and other WDIY music shows after they have aired using our Two-Week Music Show Archive! Available on the WDIY app or wdiy.org.
