ALL singles, please join us for the Cinco de Mayo party Friday, May 3, starting at 5:30pm.

Enter through the Portico; the party is in the Cafe. Questions, contact Barb Askren or Rena Taylor.

Since Rick Ware has officially retired, and Joe Murphy, our acting interim facilities manager, is working part-time, all church doors will be locked (Monday through Friday until 4:30 pm) until we hire a permanent full-time replacement. We ask everyone, including all scheduled groups and studies, to enter through door #1.

Please note that staff depends on the calendar to secure space and provide access to the building and appropriate setups; thus, it is essential to schedule time in the church (at least 24 hours in advance) through the main church office. This includes additional time you may need for preparation. Please send all requests to Virginia Barnett or Dianna Jimenez or call 513-683-0254.

Larry Stockdale, our evening custodian, will continue to manage the evening calendar, ensuring that anyone scheduled to be in the building after 4:30 pm has convenient access.

We deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain the security and workflow of our church community.

Blessings,

SPC Staff

Now Accepting General Fund Grant Proposals for 2024

$13,500 is available for General Fund grants in 2024! General Fund grants are used for SPC-related projects that are not funded through the annual budget.

Have an idea for a project, ministry, or other need that would benefit from grant funding? Please pass your idea along to staff or committee member!

The deadline for grant proposal submissions is June 1. To submit a proposal or suggestion for a grant, or obtain more information about making a Legacy Gift, contact Jay Beard jaybeard@cinci.rr.com or Neil Gartner neilgartner@gmail.com.

Leave a Legacy!

Sycamore Church has been an enduring witness to the Christian faith in our community for over 200 years. You can help secure Sycamore’s future for the next century and beyond through planned giving techniques that can provide immediate tax and income benefits for you.

SPC’s Endowment has recovered from a rough 2022, reaching a new high of $335,000 at the end of March! However, the demand for endowment grants has grown even faster: In 2023, we had $38,000 in grant proposals for the $13,200 available for General Fund grants. SPC needs a bigger Endowment!

If you’d like to learn more about ways to include Sycamore in your planning, talk to your attorney or financial advisor, or contact Neil Gartner, chair, or another member of the Legacy Gifts Committee.

Even if you don’t think planned giving is right for you, you are strongly advised to have a will and other basic estate planning documents, especially if you have dependent children! No estate is too simple or too small to benefit from basic planning. This ensures your intentions are fulfilled and eases the administrative burden on loved ones during a difficult time.

DEACONS OF THE MONTH - May 2024

This month's deacons are Wendy Tegtmeier (513-774-7584) and Gary Hester (513-675-0278).

Being an SPC Deacon is a privilege and a blessing. As Deacons, we are given the opportunity to know SPC church members and friends in a deeper way, serving alongside them and growing in the understanding of the burdens people carry and how the church can help. Think of your Deacons as the "caregivers" of the congregation, and feel free to reach out to your Deacon of the Month if you need someone with whom to pray, have questions about the church, or just need an empathetic ear. Our "Cooks on Call" ministry is also available to provide a homemade meal following a surgery, serious illness, or passing of a loved one. We have been called to serve and are here for you.

The deadline for weekly submissions to the SNAPSHOT is Tuesdays before 12 noon. All requests received after the deadline will appear in the following week's publication.

This deadline includes Sanctuary slides and requests for the use of a kiosk.

Please email your information to Virginia Barnett. Thank you.
