A Letter From Our President & CEO
“Look, you can’t take people off their planet willy-nilly. It’s called alien abduction, and is frowned upon in the most respectable circles.” S. E. Anderson
“Being abducted by aliens might be just the vacation I need at this point” - Unknown
"At this point, if I get picked up by aliens, I’m just going to consider it a rescue mission and not an abduction.” - Unknown

Well folks, here at the Historical Society of Martin County, we’ve been scratching our heads and brainstorming the best ways to give our UFO exhibit a splash of flair! With interest that’s been downright out of this world and attendance surging like a rocket, it’s clear that folks are abuzz about our “Denial, Disclosure, Discernment” exhibit at the Elliott Museum. And let me tell you, the stories we’ve heard from our guests rival anything you’d see in a Sci-Fi flick. Pilots, military personnel, and curious souls of all ages are lining up to share their own extraordinary encounters. Just the other day, one eager visitor pulled out their phone, flashing a picture of what they claimed was their very own UFO—how’s that for modern day folklore?
Now, if you haven’t come by to mix and mingle with our fantastic AI holograms of J. Allan Hynek, Stanton Friedman, and Steven Greer, you’re missing out on an interstellar level of conversation! They’ve been holding court and growing their knowledge bases faster than you can say “Martian landing”. And let me tell you, the photo ops with our gray aliens and that jazzy flying saucer backdrop? Pure delight! Whether you’re a hard-core UFO aficionado or simply a curious spectator, there’s something universal here for everyone. Those who walk in with skepticism often leave with a twinkle in their eye, perhaps even a newfound belief in the UFO phenomenon.
So come on down, take a step into the extraordinary, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll beam you up!

EXCITING CHANGES COMING SOON!
“Can you believe I’ve had my one-year anniversary this past month? Well, I can’t—time flies when you’re having fun! In the last year, I’ve made solid friendships, learned more about my community, and discovered so many people who are just like me—people who want the best for our community and who are not afraid to work hard to do the right thing. Each day, I am grateful to add my labor and skills to the pool of those working to preserve our memories of this area and sustain the links to the past that help to inform our future.
We have some exciting changes to permanent exhibits coming up soon, I welcome you in if you haven’t been to visit in a while! I am thrilled to be working on plans for the 100-year anniversary of Martin County and can’t wait to show you what we are working on to celebrate our beautiful county’s full century of existence. As I reflect on the work I have done for the HSMC over the past year, I can’t help but think of all those who have come before me—visionaries like Janet Hutchinson, whose portrait watches over all we do here—and feel so grateful to be here right now. Now is tomorrow’s history!”
