Mardi Gras Raffle Baskets – Help Needed

Mardi Gras is a Fundraiser for St. Mark’s Youth Ministry and for St. Mark’s Montessori School, our major outreach ministry. We raise funds by sponsoring a raffle of themed baskets, or a few high-end items (like travel, lodging, unique experiences, etc.).

We invite individuals, families and our various ministry groups to help make the Mardi Gras Fundraiser a success by creating and contributing a fun Gift Basket to the event. Baskets are due on Wednesday February 1st in the Church office. These baskets will be raffled off at St. Mark’s Mardi Gras Party on February 10th at the end of the evening (need not be present to win):

The basket themes are up to your own creativity. Some possible ideas follow:

  • Movie Night
  • A Novel Basket
  • Game Night
  • Pamper Yourself
  • Pub Crawl
  • Puzzles gone Wild
  • Art Basket
  • The Stationery Store
  • Coffee Lovers

And many more...

Willing to help? Have ideas? Have questions? Please contact Lucy Sinkular (via email here) or Heather Gaume (via email here).

Bring your Palm Branches for Mardi Gras!

Palm Leaf

Please bring your Palm fronds from last Palm Sunday to St. Mark's and place them in the basket in the Narthex any time before Saturday, February 10th. It is customary during Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras celebrations to burn the blessed palm branches from the previous Palm Sunday to create the ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Annual Meeting: Sunday, January 28

We will vote as a parish for our new vestry and delegate members during Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 28. during our Sunday Worship at 9:30. There will be a supplementary "Messenger" email campaign that will go out tomorrow regarding everything Annual Meeting, including the Annual Report and all candidates running for Vestry and Delegate to Convention. We look forward to your presence this Sunday.

Ushers Needed

We will be reorganizing St. Mark's ushers and hopes to recruit enough people to this ministry to have individual Sunday teams, including a 5th Sunday team. This is an easy ministry to participate in and you get to meet everyone coming through St. Mark's doors on a Sunday. We need anyone interested to step forward! This can be a meaningful ministry for couples and families too. Please contact Jo Ann Swinson at 505-803-6403 (call or text) or email her here.

January Outreach: Collecting Warm Items for Those in Need

Collecting Warm Items for our Neighbors at the International District Library

St. Mark’s is again collecting items to keep warm – this time for our neighbors seeking help at the International District Public Library. The most needed items are sweatpants, jackets, sweaters, and blankets. They can also use hats, scarves, and socks. Please bring NEW or very gently used items to the bin in the narthex.

Please contact Deacon David (via email here) if you have any questions or would like to donate money and have us do the shopping.
