Safety Training: REC Partners with Virginia State Police

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) and the Virginia State Police recently collaborated on a joint-training exercise related to the discovery of suspicious packages. REC regularly partners with local and state law-enforcement agencies on issues related to public safety.

Summer storms can pop up quickly, so know how to stay safe. Here's what to do if you hear thunder or see lightning:

  • Quickly seek shelter in a sturdy building.
  • Once indoors, stay away from windows.
  • Wait at least 30 minutes from the last clap of thunder before going outdoors.
