GOOD NEWS BEARS

Week of December 11, Vol 1, Issue 18

Dear St. David Families,

As we continue our journey through the Advent season, we encourage all families to take a moment for quiet reflection and to engage in meaningful conversations about hope and preparation. The second week of Advent is a time dedicated to the theme of love. As we light the second candle on the Advent wreath, we are reminded of the profound love that defines the Christmas season. This week encourages us to reflect on the love that surrounds us, both in our relationships with others and in the boundless love that led to the gift of Jesus Christ. In the midst of the holiday hustle, let us take a moment to cultivate love in our hearts, share it with those around us, and embrace the true spirit of the season.

We thank the 2nd and 3rd graders for their active participation and reverence during the Immaculate conception Mass. Their enthusiasm and dedication added to the significance of the occasion! The special performance of Gentle Woman at the end of the Mass was perfect.

Thank you!

Yours in faith,

Ms. Medrano

WCEA ACCREDITATION VISIT 2024-25

We are preparing for our upcoming accreditation visit by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA). This visit is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the excellence of our school and the wonderful learning environment we provide for our students.

What is WCEA?

The WCEA is an organization that helps ensure the quality and effectiveness of Catholic education. They review and accredit schools to ensure they meet the highest standards of excellence.

Standard of Excellence Protocol: What to Expect

During our accreditation visit (2024-25 school year), the WCEA will evaluate our school based on the new Standard of Excellence Protocol. This assessment is all about celebrating what we do well and identifying areas where we can improve. It's like a quality check-up for our school! We'll have a team of experienced educators and administrators from WCEA visiting us, and they'll observe our classes, meet with staff, students, and parents, and review our school's operations.

Your Role in the Process

All members of our St. David community are encouraged to get involved and share their experiences. In preparation for this visit, there is a chance for everyone to have their voices heard, so please be open to sharing your thoughts and feedback in the survey.

CHOCOLATE SALES

Our delicious chocolate sales fundraiser has ended! All orders must be submitted by December 5th. Thank you to everyone who has already participated - your support makes a significant impact in our daily operations. Please communicate with Ms. Turner if you need more or to submit your chocolate monies. As a reminder, each family is required to raise a minimum of $300 to the fundraising activities which include the Chocolate Sales and Fun Run.

TOYS FOR TOTS with STATION 66

Our annual Toys for Tots field trip is just around the corner! On Tuesday, December 12th, our students will walk down to Richmond Fire Department Station 66 to deliver their toys. St. David Bears will have the opportunity to bring joy to those less fortunate by participating in this wonderful initiative. Pleas ensure that your child has their permission slip returned by Monday, December 11th. Let's make a difference together!

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Our talented students have been hard at work preparing for the annual Christmas Concert! Mark your calendars for December 20th at 6 pm. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the holiday spirit through music and performances by our incredible students. We can't wait to see you there!

We are bringing back the silent auction for the front row seats of our Christmas program!

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our Breakfast with Santa event on Sunday. It was a joyous occasion filled with laughter, delicious food, and the spirit of giving. Every single person I've spoken to said that this was the best Breakfast with Santa event ever. It made it even more special to connect with people from our community who remarked at how friendly and joyful everyone was at the event. Your support made this event truly special, and we are grateful for the wonderful memories made.
