Physician Waffle House is expecting to announce its Grand Opening later in the spring.
The Physician Waffle House is a 24-hour, on-line gathering place by and for physicians: a place to Work, Learn, Play, and Connect. Physicians will be able to look for jobs, post for locums, peruse courses, post social events, as well as share ideas, discuss challenges, and communicate through on-line forums and group chats. The plan is to have both the website and the APP ready for testing in March, with the hope that all medical staff in Vernon, Salmon Arm and Revelstoke will join in “Beta-testing” it later that month.
A strange name for a website? The moniker was coined after Waffle House, a 24-hour diner created by two neighbours in Georgia in 1958. With more than 1900 locations in Canada and the United States, it was originally intended to be a meeting place where family and friends could talk at any time of the day or night. In 2023, the Jonas Brothers released the hit song Waffle House -- a tribute to their childhood sanctuary. Too young to go drinking with band and crew after their concerts, the brothers decompressed at a Waffle House: making plans; sorting out issues; writing songs.
