The Commentary

Dear Ones,

I hope you're well this week! Thank you for your help in getting folks to church on time last week! Please remind yourself and your friends that 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. are our summer service times now.

Before that however, I would like to ask your prayers of grace and celebration on Saturday morning when 13 of our congregants will become official Episcopalians at the Diocesan Confirmation and Reception liturgy being held at All Saints!

Water Donations Needed

With highs already in the 90s, we have seen an increase in our unhoused neighbors coming to our campus and asking for water. To help serve those most vulnerable to the summer heat, we are asking for donations of cases of bottled water, sunscreen, and other items that can help them survive the months to come.

Nourish Phoenix Requested Items

As part of our ongoing partnership with Nourish Phoenix, we have been informed that the following items are most in-demand at the moment, and they have asked us to focus on collecting them for the people they serve:

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bars of soap, toothpaste, and laundry detergent. They also have a constant demand for feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons).

None of these items can be purchased with SNAP benefits, and can be very expensive for those with limited means. You can either purchase large quantities of the needed items and Nourish will divide them into smaller containers (such as the empty pill bottles we have already been collecting!) or you can purchase travel size versions of the items.

If you have any questions, please email Deacon Myra Kingsley at myra@trinitycathedral.com.

Exploring Emotion: May Olney Gallery Exhibit

Karolina Adams works in ink and graphite. Using drawing to unload her feelings, Adams works through her thoughts and emotions. Her artwork uses a striped socks character to depict those feelings and stories. "[My art is] about love and the happy moments that come with it. I share my struggles and triumphs… People lose themselves in my work and find themselves in its emotions, which demonstrates that we're all connected and uniquely the same." Adams has a BFA in Interior Architecture from Columbia College, Chicago. Adams has been in solo and group exhibitions in Arizona, Nevada, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Illinois.

Sarah Simmerman uses color and texture to convey a story of emotion and growth. She blends the abstract with structured elements, contrasting geometric patterns with organic forms. Sarah's experiences with depression and anxiety inform her artistic process and inspiration. "I use color to express myself, and my palette is chosen based on my current state of mind or memories. I am intrigued by how individuals can experience the same art differently based on their past experiences." Sarah has a BFA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She has exhibited her work in Texas, Virginia, and throughout Arizona.
