Rough Stock Rodeo Returns to Fairgrounds

The Cumming Fairgrounds will again host the IRPA World Championship Rough Stock Rodeo on March 29th and 30th beginning at 8 p.m. each night. Events include bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, and bare back riding. Tickets to the rodeo are $15 for ages 11 and up, and kids 10 and under are free. Recreation: Pickleball Open Play Monday-Thursday at Dobb's Creek

City of Cumming Recreation & Parks Department offers open play for pickleball at the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center, 1115 Dahlonega Hwy., every Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for the complete March schedule.


The department has also partnered with Paddle Pros Pickleball Academy to offer lessons and camps this summer! Be sure to follow the Cumming Recreation & Parks Department website and Facebook page for updates about this exciting partnership!

March at the Cumming Aquatic Center

The Cumming Aquatic Center will offer the following events in March:


  • Lifeguarding Course - March 8th-10th: In this blended course (online and in-person), participants learn basic, entry-level lifeguarding skills.


  • Group Swim Lesson Registration opens for the summer season on March 18th. Register for lessons in-person at the front desk or online.


  • Holiday Closure - The CAC will be CLOSED on Sunday, March 31st for Easter.

Great FoCo Cleanup Kicks Off at City Hall

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful's Annual Great FoCo Cleanup will begin on March 23rd with a kickoff event at Cumming City Hall, 100 Main Street, from 9 a.m. to noon. Click here to learn more and to register to participate.


The Great FoCo Cleanup uses volunteer teams to clean up roadways throughout Forsyth County. Pick up supplies and free KFCB 30th Anniversary t-shirts (one per person) at the kick-off event at City Hall, or schedule a time for pickup at the KFCB office. Teams then clean up their assigned road any time that is convenient for them before Earth Day on April 22nd and bring their bags of litter to any of the three Forsyth County Recycling Centers.

Mayor & City Council Honor Pugh Family with Key to City

During their Regular Meeting on Feb. 20th, Mayor Troy Brumbalow and City Council presented a Key to the City recognition to the Pugh Family. Pugh Brothers' Garage was open in downtown Cumming from 1969 to 2009, providing excellent automotive and wrecker services to the community. Additionally, one of the brothers, John D. Pugh, who passed away in 2021, served as a City of Cumming Councilman for more than 20 years. Accepting the award were Mary Pugh, Angie Pugh and William Pugh. In other business during the February Work Session and Regular Meeting, City Council took the following actions:


  • Approved in a 4-0 vote with Councilman Christopher Lighter recused due to a professional conflict of interest, a rezoning application from Inline Communities for development of a townhome community on 31.4 acres on Veterans Memorial Blvd.


  • Approved the annual update to the Capital Improvements Element of the Comprehensive Plan as required by state law.


  • Approved the low proposal from Bobcat of Atlanta for purchase of a mid-size rubber-tired loader for Cumming Utilities.


  • Approved the low proposal from Jasper Grading and Pipeline for an emergency repair to a storm drain in Hickory Oak Hollow of Hickory Ridge subdivision.


  • Authorized Mayor Brumbalow to sign necessary documents for a GEFA loan for a gravity sewer line along Settingdown Creek to serve several hundred acres along the creek.


  • Authorized Mayor Brumbalow to sign a right-of-way deed to create the official right-of-way for Lanier 400 Parkway.


  • Approved the low proposal from Edge Roofing for construction of a new multi-purpose barn at the Cumming Fairgrounds, replacing the previous barn that was torn down earlier this year due to structural concerns.


  • Approved an alcohol license for El Rey Restaurant and Cantina at 248 Atlanta Road.


  • Approved a Conditional Use Permit, following a public hearing, for Guven Investments to establish an outdoor storage facility on Buford Dam Road.


  • Approved the low proposal from Wade Ford for purchase a new police vehicle.


  • Authorized Mayor Brumbalow to sign a settlement agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for Highway 9 South water line as part of a GDOT widening project.

Join Mayor Troy as a 'Quacker Backer'

The Forsyth County Schools' Education Foundation is celebrating its 5th Annual Duck Dive for Education! Join Mayor Troy Brumbalow as a Quacker Backer by adopting a duck for $10 for a chance to win $10,000! Deadline to adopt ducks is March 29th at 10 a.m. and the raffle will be held at the "pond" (Cumming Aquatic Center) on March 29th at 1 p.m. You can watch the live broadcast of the Duck Dive raffle on March 29th by clicking here. SAA Arts Center March Events

The Sawnee Association of the Arts will offer the following events this month at the Cumming Arts Center, 111 Pilgrim Mill Road:


  • Blossoms Art Show - Opens March 6th and includes more than 20 member and non-member artists exhibiting artwork depicting wonders of the spring season
  • Loopholes - An outdoor sculpture by Gregory Johnson, is now on display.
  • SAA Monthly Meeting (Non-SAA Members are welcome to attend) - March 25th, 5:30-8 p.m. at United Way of Forsyth County, 240 Elm Street, Cumming
  • Call for Artists - Submissions for the inaugural "Springtime Small Works Gallery & Marketplace" open to members on March 27th.
  • Classes in March include evening and weekend schedules.
  • Open Studio is available Wednesdays-Fridays.
