Meeting trends: Get ready for what's ahead

How do we, as meeting planners, plan for safety and security, technology, personalization and the rising costs of meetings in the current "seller's market." Leave this session armed with knowledge on what's around the corner and ways to creatively leverage resources and reduce expenses. Join us for a panel discussion to find out what area meeting planners are doing to prepare for what's ahead.

Breakfast presentation: Lean marketing ideas for associations
Tuesday, May 24, 8:00 - 9:15 am
Lean Marketing is a pillar of the Lean startup movement, and it can energize market discovery and growth in associations and organizations of any size and life cycle stage. David Gee, Launch Pad co-director and lecturer in entrepreneurship, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, College of Business & Economics, will provide a quick tour through some of the first principles of lean marketing with a focus on value creation through customer participation, continuous learning, leveraging technology and efficient use of sometimes limited association resources to achieve maximum results. Utilize Lean Marketing principles to ensure your association stays on top of the ever-changing member base and provides current and relevant value.

WSAE is excited to announce that the awards celebration and business meeting normally held in the November - December timeframe will now be included as part of the Innovation Summit schedule. The Innovation Summit will take place later in the year with dates and location to be announced shortly. How will Department of Labor's new overtime rule
impact you?
The White House has announced the publication of its final overtime rule, which will be effective Dec. 1. The Administration says it will extend overtime eligibility to more than 4 million additional workers within the first year of implementation.

For more information about the overtime rule and how organizations can prepare before the Dec. 1 effective date, visit ASAE's Power of A site at www.thepowerofa.org/2016/05/final-dol-overtime-rule.

If you are concerned about the impact of the overtime rule on your organization, contact your elected representatives in Congress and share how this change will affect your association's bottom line and ability to carry out your mission. Click here to access ASAE's Engage portal to send a message to your legislators

CAE study group - Madison
I wonder if anyone is interested in forming a study group that would meet this summer and early autumn to prepare for the December exam.
Cool member recruiting/Benefits pages
I thought I would share what I think are some great member recruitment web pages that I saw recently. The goals that Katie Froeber and her team at Dynamic Communities were to include compelling "voice of customer" (member) examples, give a better summary of what CRMUG is, simplify their Calls To Action and remind existing members of benefits in a clear and concise manner. I think they nailed it...take a look.

The content marketing gold mine that's right under your nose
by Aaron Manogue

Content marketing was one of the topics that people brought up during our in-person meetings that they would love to learn more about. And on that same note, the lack of resources to produce continuous content needed to be effective in content marketing was the biggest setback of nearly all the participants. Whether you're part of a small association that has one or two marketing and communications people (like me), or your part of a large corporation that has hundred of great minds at work, we've all run into the dreaded doldrums of creativity when it comes to creating new, fresh content. It's one of the scariest, most-stressful parts of the great job we have.

CEO Roundtables are designed specifically for association CEOs only, as a venue for networking and sharing ideas. This is a perfect opportunity to meet with your peers in a casual setting and discuss topics of interest.
