Message from the Associate Dean - BCH Oakland

March 2024

Happy March!

Happy International Women’s Day/Week March 4-8!

Happy National Social Work Month!

Happy Child Life Month!

Welcome Nicholas Holmes, MD, MBA and President of BCH!

Happy National Doctor’s Day! (observed March 28th)

There are just so many wonderful reasons to celebrate the month of March. The Oakland Dean’s Office is sponsoring a snack break in the Medical Staff Lounge, Walnut Creek Boardroom, 5700 MLK Research Building (2nd Floor Kitchen), and 5220 Claremont on March 28th for National Doctors Day!

I hope you all had a chance to attend one of the space town halls and have learned about touch-down spaces and how to reserve them on the Event Management System (EMS). If not, please take a look at our recording of the February 8th UCSF BCH All-Faculty Town Hall on Academic Space.

Be well,

Kelley

Are you a proceduralist? Do you travel between campuses? Please see the forwarded message from the BCH Oakland Director of Hospitality Services:

We are asking that proceduralists remove hospital-issued scrubs before going to Mission Bay. We do not get these scrubs back when placed in soiled linen at Mission Bay. New scrubs have been ordered and are due to arrive sometime in April.

Release of the UCSF Changemaker Series

The UCSF Changemaker Series, created by Professor of Medicine Hilary Seligman, MD, MAS, is a four-part video series that seeks to build the capacity of UCSF researchers to generate scientific evidence that is responsive to the needs of real-world decision-makers. Each 10-15 minute video highlights a UCSF researcher in conversation with an interdisciplinary panel of non-academic experts discussing how investigators at all stages of their careers can more meaningfully inform policies, systems, and structures in order to create social or policy change.
