A Message From Chairwoman
Of The Board Abby Hauke
| | |
Dear GMAR Members,
It’s March, and that means as the weather warms up the market should start picking up too.
Inventory is up slightly, but probably not as much as you'd all like to see or enough for what the buyer demand is currently – especially among first-time buyers. With that news, we will likely continue to see rising prices. There is a lot of discussion about how to increase the supply of new construction, but your clients are looking now so prepare them to be patient, but agile enough to jump when the right home pops up.
Did you know March is Women’s History Month? At the GMAR women have been in leadership positions for decades – and fun fact, women have been the Association’s Chairperson for 16 out of the last 21 years.
At our upcoming WomenStrong event on June 25th, we will celebrate the strength, resilience, and determination of women who have overcome challenges in their lives. That’s what Darcy Luoma learned first-hand when her life fell apart in the most shocking way. Darcy reveals three powerful steps you can use immediately to clear the hurdles standing in your way of peak performance. As Darcy says, “You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control what you do next.” Make sure to mark your calendars for this one!
On April 10th we will be hosting a one-hour webinar featuring Alexia Smokler, NAR Director of Fair Housing Policy & Programs. The event will provide an update on all of NAR’s Fair Housing advocacy: from the latest Fair Housing-related lawsuits, NAR’s lobbying efforts, to examples of how agents have violated Article 10 of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
Finally, the 99th REALTORS® Home & Garden Show is at the Expo Center at the Wisconsin State Fair Park running from March 21st– 30th. I hope you got your tickets and I’ll see you out there!
Thank you for being a GMAR member.
Sincerely,
Abby Hauke
2025 Chairwoman

March Is Women's History Month!
The Role of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®
| | |
March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the achievements of women in all industries - including real estate. Today, women make up the majority of REALTORS®, but their journey in the industry hasn’t always been easy.
When the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) was founded in 1908, its membership was entirely male. Women began joining in the years that followed, but they remained a minority for decades. Recognizing the need for support and advocacy, a group of female REALTORS® took action. In 1938, the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) was formed as the Women’s Division of NAR to create a space where women could develop leadership skills, build professional networks, and advocate for their role in the industry.
Over the years, The Women’s Council of REALTORS® has played a critical role in elevating women in real estate by offering mentorship, education, and networking opportunities. Today, the Women’s Council continues to empower female professionals, helping them take on leadership roles at all levels - whether in brokerage management, association leadership, or community involvement.

Guardian Well & Septic
We offer both well and septic inspections so there is no need to call two different companies, making the process easy and convenient for our clients. Unlike our competitors, we focus primarily on Real Estate transactions. This means we can turn things around much quicker while offering far better customer service. If we had to describe ourselves in one word, it would be "EASY". We streamline the entire process through the use of technology and excellent communication. Our reports are written in a straightforward manner to alleviate confusion in negotiations, and since Real Estate happens on nights and weekends too, we make ourselves accessible at all times regardless of the day or time -Just like you! We cover 9 counties in Southeastern Wisconsin including: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, parts of Jefferson & parts of Dodge. If you are uncertain on if we are a good fit for you & your clients, we would encourage you to check out our 150+ google reviews left by many past clients and many real
estate agents we have enjoyed working with in the past.
What’s one thing about your company that you’d like REALTORS® to know?
We are here for you. Whether you are a seasoned agent or a new agent with little experience in wells and septics, we will walk you through the process and answer any questions along the way. Educating is something we pride ourselves in, so no question is not worth asking!
What’s your go-to productivity tip or tool that keeps you successful?
Our favorite productivity tip is education! Always learning is a good way to stay successful!
What’s your favorite local spot to visit and why do you love it?
To choose just one would be impossible! How lucky are we to live in an area with so many spectacular options?! One of our hobbies is trying different supper clubs though. Is there anything better than a fish fry & an old fashioned on a Friday night?!
