UCE Brings Health and Hope to the Poor

How's this for a school's parent-teacher-student meeting? Pictured above is a recent "Citizen's meeting" in Kasese, Uganda where the head teacher had invited all parents and youth to hear the UCE message of abstinence until a faithful marriage. Parents realize that their culture brings risks of HIV/AIDS, STDs, teen pregnancy, school drop-outs, pornography, sex-trafficking and they want a healthy way out of poverty for their children. The UCE team reported:

"Parents were at the very first time in love with UCE and they said the team has brought for them the message that will lead their children to success and brighter future. By the end of the session 389 students boldly signed abstinence cards."

UCE brings hope to the poor in the rural areas of Africa where the life-saving chastity message is considered, understood, and then requested wherever the team goes.

Q: Are African girls especially at risk?

A: Yes. 70% of new HIV infections among Ugandans aged 15-24 are in girls. (Ministry of Health, 2022) Pictured below is a UCE-Masaka outreach. The girls are poor and vulnerable to "sugar daddies", men who request sexual favors in exchange for school fees, uniforms, a tasty meal, or cell phones. The UCE-team explains the dangers and gives tools to say "NO!" with firm resolve. They encourage the youth to set goals and focus on studies so that they can escape the throes of poverty. Learning of their self-worth as God's creations, they sign commitments to abstinence and embrace newly found HOPE in their futures.

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Ps 139:14)

Blessed is he who considers the poor! Ps. 41:1

There are various ways to provide for the poor. UCE builds people up to endure the challenges, resist temptations, stay healthy, and live with hope and confidence in the future.
