Wood Duck Box Building Partnership

CWA has partnered with Butte College’s construction class, led by program manager Tom Williams, to build wood duck boxes. We've provided enough wood and supplies for 156 boxes! Some of these boxes will be built over the summer with a juvenile hall class, and the rest when the school year starts back up.

Hunt Program Applications

The hunt program applications are live! This includes dove, deer, duck and turkey hunts; first-come, first-served Grizzly Ranch and women's hunts; and Duck Camp. Duck Camp registration is directly available on the CWA website, while all other hunts can be found on the hunt program application site linked here. Don't miss out!

Wetlands Work

California Waterfowl is currently working on a wetland restoration project at the Volta State Wildlife Area - Ponds 2-4. Contractors have removed old water control structures and are in the process of developing a new swale system, cutting high ground, creating loafing islands, and filling excessively deep areas to improve waterfowl feeding depths. New water control structures will be installed following the completion of the dirt work. These improvements will reduce the amount of water required to irrigate the units, improve soil health, and promote moist-soil plant species that provide food resources for a wide variety of wetland-dependent waterbirds. This project will significantly improve 260 acres of publicly hunted wetlands at the wildlife area.
