Nursing School Faculty Member Supports Marginalized Communities Through Clinical Work and Research

As a certified nurse midwife, Christina X. Marea, PhD, MA, FACNM, has focused on caring for people affected by social and structural marginalization. That focus carries over into her research, including a paper recently published in the journal Health Equity about the challenges pregnant people face navigating homelessness and social assistance programs.

Countdown to BellRinger: 100 Days Until the Community Bike Ride to End Cancer

100 Days Until Bellringer

July 19 marked 100 days until BellRinger, a bike ride and community movement to end cancer. With efforts to build teams of riders and fundraising gearing up quickly, BellRinger will take place on October 26, bringing together avid cyclists, casual riders, and people who simply hate cancer - all united in their desire to support cancer research at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, DC’s only cancer center federally designated by the National Cancer Institute.

Georgetown Faculty Publish New Regulatory Science Book

Three Georgetown faculty and an alumnus worked together to edit an "authoritative guide" to regulatory science, the field concerned with developing rules to protect public health and safety. The new book, “Introduction to Regulatory Science,” is a “bible of science policy,” said lead editor Tomoko Steen, PhD, director of the MS in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Disease and MS in Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy programs.

Call for Applications: GUMC Faculty Wellness Group Coaching Program

All GUMC faculty are welcome to apply for the GUMC Faculty Wellness Group Coaching Program, an opportunity to receive group coaching designed to support faculty wellness and enhance career satisfaction and engagement. The program will consist of six 90-minute sessions led by a certified coach held 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. every other week starting September 30. 


The fall 2024 program is now open for applications for 2-3 groups of 5-10 participants in each group. Applications are due August 16. Please contact ofaa@georgetown.edu with any questions.
