Keep Cool Miami - Summer Camp Heat Preparedness Training Coming Up

This heat season come join a virtual training on heat health preparedness by the Heat Office of Miami-Dade County and The Children's Trust as part of the initiative. The training take place at 9:30 a.m. on May 28 and will teach how to identify, recognize and respond to heat related illness, the current state of increasing temperature in Miami-Dade, and county resources available. The Children's Trust Fiscal Open Labs - Budgets

Our next Fiscal Open Lab will be on Friday, May 31. This In-person Fiscal Open Lab aims to provide one-on-one support to providers with questions around budgeting. Please note, this is not a training. Providers should come with specific questions as it relates to their budgets. Providers should bring their laptops and all other necessary documentation. Please only have one staff member register (you are welcome to bring additional staff), use this link to register for the session on May 31st. Please note before you register, ensure you are logged into Trust Central and that you have been added to our Trust Academy LMS. If you see you cannot register, your agency administrator must first assign you a role.

Development Coordinator - Events, Engagement & Stewardship

The Development Coordinator will support donor and adult volunteer stewardship, engagement opportunities, and development events. Serving as a connector between donors and the program, the Development Coordinator will collaboratively develop stewardship and engagement plans and support special events management to create meaningful experiences and connections. The Development Coordinator will also support operational needs including refining processes for acknowledgement, gift reporting and pledge collections.

Site Director

The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.

The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.

Assistant Site Director

The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Summer Instructional Coaches

Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their on-going work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 10, 2023 and ends on August 4, 2023.

The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.
