A Memorable Kehillah Basketball Season! πŸ€

To recap the boys and girls basketball seasons:

Both teams won their respective PSAL North league titles. The boys team was 12-0 in the league and 16-6 overall, and the girls team was 8-1 league and 14-3 overall.

The girls went on to win Kehillah's first Private School Athletic League (PSAL) postseason tournament!

Both teams earned automatic qualifying bids to the CIF-Central Coast Section (CIF-CCS) and came within a basket of moving on in the tournament.

Thank you to all of the players, and especially to our graduating seniors that have played a huge role in building this program and preparing future teams for success!

Highlights from Dr. Geoffrey Cohen's Common Ground Speaker Series on Building Belonging

On Wednesday, March 5, Kehillah hosted the Common Ground Speaker Series evening with Dr. Geoffrey Cohen. Dr. Cohen shared the research that led to his book, Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides followed by a spirited discussion with Head of School Daisy Pellant focused on bridging his research to practice in school and at home. More than 200 Bay Area independent school parents attended this event and we received a lot of positive feedback about Kehillah!

9th-Graders Explore LA

Our 9th-graders had an amazing educational travel experience in Los Angeles, posing in front of the iconic Hollywood Sign, enjoying Israeli dancing, participating in an adventurous escape room challenge, exploring cultural landmarks, learning from community leaders, reflecting on Black history at Belmar Park, and creating floral memorials for communities affected by gun violence.

10th-Graders Explore the American South

Our 10th-graders have completed an unforgettable educational travel trip through the American South, where they explored civil rights history in cities like Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham, and Memphis, and visited iconic landmarks such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park and the Edmund Pettus Bridge, creating powerful learning moments filled with history, reflection, and adventure.

Stay tuned next week to see what our 11th-graders were up to in Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ and how our 12th-graders ventured through Central Europe! πŸ‡πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¨πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή

Parenting Workshop: The New Authority Approach (JFCS Parent Support Group)

Friday, April 4 from 8:30 to 10:00 AM

Kehillah families are invited to join therapists from Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) and our School Counselor Sarah Lesser for an insightful session on The New Authority Approach, based on Nonviolent Resistance (NVR). This approach offers parents practical tools for setting clear boundaries while strengthening connection and trust with their children. Rather than focusing on control or punishment, the New Authority Approach emphasizes parental presence, persistence, and de-escalation to address challenges such as screen overuse, defiance, and emotional regulation.

During this workshop, we will:

  • Outline the New Authority Approach
  • Explore practical strategies for home
  • Discuss effective ways to handle common parenting struggles
