The Messenger of St. Mark's | Ash Wednesday| February 13, 2024

For your thought:

And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him.

Lenten Lamentation Station

In this season of Lent, we acknowledge the ongoing reality of sin and suffering in our lives and in our world.

In this season, as we prepare to enter with Jesus into his suffering, we remember that Jesus has already entered into our suffering and the suffering of our whole world.

As we grieve the suffering of the earth and her children, and the suffering in our own lives, we pour out our prayers of lament to God.

We invite you to add your own prayers of lamentation (both words and images) to the cross in the narthex at St. Mark's.

"Friends, as Bishop Hunn says in the video above, we ask your prayers for him as he is currently in the hospital in El Paso after a blood clot was discovered in his leg. He is well. It was caught early, and he is currently undergoing tests to determine a treatment plan. We will keep you posted on his progress and any changes that need to be made to his schedule in the near term. Thank you for your prayers."

Women of the DRG: Philadelphia Eleven Movie

Feb. 23: Screening and Eucharist, 5PM

Feb. 24: Brunch and Discussion, 9AM

This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the first eleven women ordained in The Episcopal Church. The film has been eight years in production. Read more about it here.

There will be a screening of the film at the Cathedral of St. John (ABQ) on Feb. 23, followed by a Eucharist con-celebrated by many women priests in the Diocese, and a dinner.

(Tentative time: 5PM)

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Women's Ministry will host a brunch roundtable discussion about the progress and challenges for women in ministry (lay and ordained). We hope to have one of the Philadelphia Eleven join us.

Watch for more information!
