The Asclepius Initiative had a successful first year as a 501(c)(3)! A grant from the Kentucky Department of Public Health’s Office of Health Equity allowed us to hire a fabulous hard-working staff with complimentary skill sets to rapidly create a comprehensive repository of educational materials that are now being used to educate people across Kentucky about health care coverage.

We are working with eight partners who are doing an amazing job of delivering this health care coverage education to their communities. They have hosted informational sessions and brought information into senior centers and gatherings of faith leaders. They have also provided one-on-one individual educational support.

The TAI team had the honor of hosting a breakout session last month during the Kentucky Rural Health Association annual conference in Bowling Green, which was also a productive networking opportunity to develop relationships with new partners in Western Kentucky.

Through a connection with one of our Board members, TAI was also able to present information on securing health care coverage to the Frankfort Avenue Business Association, helping employers to make the coverage decisions that best benefit themselves and their employees.

Earlier this month, TAI Founder and CEO Dr. Susan Bornstein sat down with Terry Meiners on 840WHAS to discuss our efforts to educate Kentuckians about their options regarding health care coverage.

Susan will appear on WAVE Country with Dawne Gee on Wednesday, December 20th, at 2pm.

2023 also marked growth for TAI's Board. There are now 18 members overseeing multiple committees and subcommittees. We remain on the lookout for more volunteers to join us in this exciting work. If you are interested or want to learn more about how you can become involved, contact us.

2023 was a great year for TAI, and we're looking forward to an even better 2024.

Important Reminder

There is just a little more than a month left of open enrollment for 2024 coverage through kynect. Open enrollment ends January 16th. Coverage starts January 1st for those who sign up by December 15th. Those who sign up after that date will have coverage starting February 1st.

With that in mind, we are hosting two free virtual learning events to improve knowledge about health care coverage - getting it, using it, and what the jargon means.

There are two scheduling options, so you can pick the day and time that fits your needs. Join us Tuesday, January 9th at 7pm or Saturday, January 13th at 12pm.

Registration is available now.
