MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

Congratulations and gratitude to our students, school families, faculty, and staff as they approach the last day of the year on Friday! This Memorial Day Weekend, as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, we will say goodbye to Fr. Quan and have the opportunity after all the masses to share refreshments and words of thanks and support. Please keep him in your prayers and also pray for Fr. Loi Pham who will be joining us as our new associate on June 19. Because of the holiday, the parish office will be closed on Monday and our daily mass will be at 10:00 a.m.

As we approach the summer months, many other transitions happen in the normal rhythm of our parish life. One of those is the change of membership on the Pastoral Council and School Board. These two groups are integral to the direction and mission of our community and I express my deep appreciation to the members who have served well and are departing. Bruce Wiitala, our current Pastoral Council chairperson, and Adam Swiergosz will be finishing their service on the Pastoral Council and Christy Miller, the current School Board chairperson, Lauren Alderman, and Jen Seib will be doing so for the School Board. Thanks to all! I also welcome our new members and am grateful, as well, for their willingness to serve: Todd Lowe and Kelly Parkinson for Pastoral Council and Katelyn Bloyd, Bill Downs, and Cassie Yost for School Board.

This past Sunday, it was a joy to receive two adults, Allie and Chris Hirsbrunner into full communion with the Catholic Church and to Confirm them and Hayley Walsh with the Holy Spirit in the faith they professed. Please pray for them as they continue their journey with Jesus Christ and his church. May each of us be guided by the same Holy Spirit to take our next best step with Jesus on the journey of faith!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

What is something people do not know about you?

I love to learn! I enjoy trying new things. In the last year I have started playing pickleball and golf and I have had a great time not only learning about these sports, but meeting lots of new people along the way.

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

2 Corinthians 5:6-8: “So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are of good courage and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”

This world that we are in is a temporary one. Beyond this lies an eternity of love and comfort with God. Each day we work at doing the “next right thing” knowing that the best is yet to come. It is not always an easy concept but when we sit with it, we find peace.

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

St. Patrick is a vibrant parish with lots of energy and passion. I love the variety of activities and needs that take place here. On any given day, we experience life from beginning to end with all of the ”in between". Serving at St. Patrick provides a constant reminder of God’s presence in our lives. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve here and to experience life with this community of disciples.
