Welcome to Bright Light Projects month of May 2024 newsletter,
This month's newsletter highlights the ongoing success of our "Adolescent Youth Leadership and Mentorship Program" (AYLM) in Cameroon, with a particular focus on our school campaigns promoting STEM education.
Building the Next Generation of Leaders
In line with BLP's vision to empower young people and contribute positively to their communities, the BLP team in Buea launched the AYLM program in March 2024. This program focuses on providing leadership, mentorship, and career guidance for adolescent youths in secondary schools.
A Focus on STEM Education
Recognizing the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills in the modern world, a key component of the AYLM program is our STEM education outreach initiative. We've visited three schools thus far, conducting engaging sensitization campaigns that target both girls and boys.
Marching Forward with Enthusiasm
On March 3rd, 2024, our team visited Praise Baptist Academy in Buea to introduce students to the exciting world of STEM. We highlighted the vast opportunities STEM offers in today's rapidly evolving world, encouraging students to become not just consumers of technology, but rather critical thinkers, innovators, and future job creators.
The program was met with great enthusiasm from both the students and the school administration, who expressed their appreciation for BLP's efforts.
Empowering Girls in STEM
Earlier in March, on March 22nd, 2024, we reached out to the students of Grace Inclusive Mental Change (GIMEC) primary school in Buea.
Our interactive session focused on the significance of STEM education for girls and women, providing guidance on how to pursue STEM careers. The program concluded with positive feedback and a clear understanding of the potential that STEM holds for these young minds.
Celebrating Innovation
In February, to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the BLP team conducted an outreach program at Mbeni High School Buea on February 8th, 2024.
This program, facilitated by our team members, highlighted the importance of STEM education for both girls and boys. We emphasized the vast opportunities arising from technological advancements and innovation, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The program was a resounding success.
Investing in the Future
We are incredibly proud of the BLP team in Buea for their dedication to promoting STEM education and empowering future generations. With informative presentations and engaging activities, we are making a positive impact on young minds in Cameroon.
We have more exciting outreach programs planned, so stay tuned for future updates!
