"We have a number of smaller clients that are interested in establishing a merchant account such as Paypal in order to begin credit card payment processing for membership, events, etc. What company or service do you recommend?"

Solutions Network
Online Education
At the Innovation Summit, several people gathered at two tables to discuss Online Education. The needs expressed varied from the type of online program to the technical management to the business model. Some members are looking for more information about virtual conferences, podcasts or webinars. While others want to know details about pricing, certification and sponsorship. All are looking for solutions and to connect with people to make their vision a reality.

We decided that the best place to start would be to create case studies. In the next couple of days, we'll post a case study form for anyone to complete. This will be your chance to showcase your association's online learning successes and challenges and allow others to learn from you. The case studies will be available in the library as well.

Stay tuned for more! If you would like to join the online education solutions network, please contact Mona Johnson or Julie Stelter.

Form Follows Function: Association Structure and Strategy
by Bob Harris

"Form follows function" is a principle associated with architecture. The shape of a building or object should be based upon its intended function or purpose. In other words, the way something looks should be determined by its purpose.

This idea can easily be applied to associations. In the nonprofit world, form equates to structure and governance, while function is the mission and strategic plan.
