K-2 RECAP
Ms. Yenth'l
On Sunday the students learned about different Jewish artists that created sculptures. Our Jewish ancestors have been creating art since biblical times! The students created abstract sculptures using model magic clay, pipe cleaners and beads. They observed artists work like Dahlia Raz’s pipe cleaner portraits and were inspired to create their own art.
Our class also reviewed Hebrew letters and have been learning the new letter, pay. Since Purim and Pesach (Passover) begin with this letter, they created and formed it using play dough, as well as the other letters they have learned this year: alef, bet/vet, gimel, dalet, hay, chet, and nun. Sounds of the letters and letter identification is also learned during this process.
The 4 Questions were reviewed in class for the upcoming holiday of Passover! The students will learn and review more in our next class!
Have a great Spring Break and I look forward to seeing your children again on Sunday, April 6.
3rd-6th RECAP
Morah Marla, Alex, Ms. Koota
We began our Sunday morning with a review of the Friday night service, preparing to lead our Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday, May 16 (save the date!). The students are getting more comfortable and confident with the prayers as their reading skills are growing.
.
After a post-Purim hamentaschen snack, it was on to the classrooms for focused Hebrew reading prayer practice. Morah Marla's class worked on prayers. Alex's class started with a game making English words out of Hebrew letters, like blue
בְּלוּ .
From Siddur to Seder (ask your child what these words mean/have in common) we concentrated on our study of Passover-preparing The 4 Questions and other prayers and blessings from the hagadah. Passover is right around the corner!
On Tuesday, Morah Marla's class continued with practicing prayers. In Ms. Koota's class, students are “racing” along reading Hebrew. They are playing games while they read making it more fun!
Please make sure everyone continues practicing during break. This practice is helping with their confidence on knowing the letters, vowels, and reading prayers.
