"Heart Maintenance"
Our hearts, souls, minds, and our lives must be continually attended to. We are responsible for the condition of our hearts, which scripture says are deceitfully wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Scripture likens our hearts to ground that must be cultivated. When this ground is left unattended, we end up with things that are vain and worthless. Stones and brambles are metaphorically used by Jesus to describe road blocks to growth and victory. Without the cultivation of prayer, the ground of our hearts will become hard and unable to receive or produce anything good. When we study God’s Word and pray, what results are we hoping for? What do we want the Living Word to accomplish? According, to Jesus, it depends upon the condition of our hearts.
Important decisions we make can be affected by whether or not we possess wisdom, which can be defined as the ability to discern between what is true and false. It is easy for the enemy to deceive those who have neglected their hearts. We must be guarded from wickedness because out of our hearts “flow the issues of life.” But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be arrogant, and [as a result] be in defiance of the truth. This [superficial] wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly (secular), natural (unspiritual), even demonic” (James 3:14-15 AMP).
Jealousy is a sign of a heart that has been neglected and left to the devices of the enemy. Prayer will break up the fallow ground of any stony heart; enabling there to be love and compassion, which will produce good fruit. When we pray, the work of the Spirit will create a “clean heart” within us. The Word will help us remove the stones that prevent the seed of faith from taking root. Consistent prayer will root out fear, worry, and bitterness. Daily prayer allows peace to be the fertilizer that permits faith-based plants to grow, multiply, and produce after their own kind.
We must allow God to produce something good in our own hearts before we can hope to see something good produced in others. This is why prayer is so important to every aspect of ministry. To be connected to the True Vine, and to see the miraculous, requires prayer. If we are to have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts, we must pray. Throughout scripture, we are reminded of the importance of maintaining our hearts and the rebuke given to those who don’t. As a result, those who do not maintain their hearts will have their hearts hardened. “And He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear and heed My words” (Mark 4:3-9 AMP).

Entwined in our Heart
Prayer for a Closer Walk with God
There’s a sweet song that echoes in my mind. The chorus goes like this, “Just a closer walk with thee, grant it Jesus is my plea. Daily walking close to thee, let it be dear Lord, let it be.” Life is much sweeter when we walk with Him. He loves, guides, protects, directs, and leads us on the paths of righteousness and holiness.
Let us unite together in one mind and one accord to intercede for all our brothers and sisters around the world and for ourselves. Pray for a closer walk in dedication, consecration, and commitment to the Lord in body, soul, mind, and strength. For Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).
Pray For All Believers:
- Help us not to be distracted by the cares of this world, but attentive to hear the still small voice of the Lord (I Kings 19:12).
- Let His Word be entwined in our heart that we may become one in Him and to speak the Word with holy boldness and anointing (Ephesians 6:20).
- Help us not to walk in darkness but walk in the light that we may see clearly His will in our lives. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light onto our path” (Psalms 119:105-106).
- Help us to put on the garment of humility and submissiveness through fasting. “My strength is made perfect in weakness … for when I am weak, then am I strong” (II Corinthians 12:9-10).
- Help us to forgive those who have trespassed against us so the anointing will flow freely in our lives. “If we confess our sins, for he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
- “Give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him” (Ephesians 1:7).
- Help us to become true worshippers and intercessors. Revelation 1:5-6 states, “the blood of Jesus has made us kings and priests unto God …”
- We come against and bind the strongholds of intimidation, low self-esteem, fear, anxiety, and panic attacks that hinder our walk with God. We loose the opposite to reign in our brothers’ and sisters’ lives. We do this by the authority of the Word of God and the power of Jesus’ name! “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7).
- “Whatsoever we do in word or deed, let us do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God” (I Thessalonians 3:17).
- Lord, teach us to draw close to You in prayer every day and to search the scriptures for they are life.

The World Network of Prayer Presents
24/7 WATCH: A Year-Round Initiative for 24/7 Prayer
As of January 1, 2023, WNOP has continued the 24/7 prayer and fasting chain worldwide. It has been such a great success in 2022 that it was requested again. Each week WNOP is posting a prayer focus as daily prayer for the entire week. Also, weekly a video is posted on the WNOP Facebook Page of a prayer leader and/or minister leading in periodic prayer.
Many people throughout the world have signed up by committing in their hearts unto God that they will consistently join together in united prayer and fasting. WNOP also has partnered with those in local churches who are already a part of a current 24-hour prayer chain. All of these hours of consecration are culminating to help provide a complete mass prayer covering over the entire Church body and to help bring greater success in all that we do in Christ! Together, let’s “watch and pray” and behold great and mighty things in the kingdom of God! Let’s prevail over the enemy with victory and declare, “Not on My Watch!”
