The rain didn't seem to bother anyone in Shenandoah on Saturday, May 18. Thousands of people visited Shenandoah and enjoyed three entire blocks full of food, beverage, arts, crafts, and nonprofit vendors during the annual Kielbasi Festival & Heritage Day event. The day began with a fabulous turnout for the Parade of Nations. Folks lined Main Street to enjoy a colorful, musical, and wonderful celebration of the area's diverse cultures.
After the parade, opening ceremonies were held in the Veterans Memorial Garden. A heartwarming invocation by Sister Marietta was extra special because she is relocating and will be greatly missed by the Shenandoah community. "Thank you for your selfless giving to everyone in our community no matter their affiliation. You will be greatly missed," expressed Shenandoah's Mayor Andrew Szcztglak. The program continued with the introduction of Grand Marshal, Dave "Lucky" Lukashunas with recognition by Mayor Szczyglak, Senator Dave Argall, State Representative Dane Watro, and County Commissioner Larry Padora. The festival continued until 4:00 pm.

This amazing festival is only possible thanks to the entire community coming together to do their part. From our generous sponsors, the behind-the-scenes volunteers who clean up the area before the event, set up early in the morning, and clean up long after everyone goes home, to the Shenandoah Borough team who handle so many tasks before and after the event, from all the vendors who bring their food and wares, to the parade participants who gather together to create a colorful show, to the first responders who are on duty throughout the event...the list goes on and on.
It truly takes a village, well a Borough in our case and there are truly so many people to thank. THANK YOU!" This is a day that truly shines the light on Shenandoah, PA, and celebrates the strong community that makes us who we are!
