In his own words: Memories from the first to land on D-Day

~Changing Lives Reception- 


As part of the Normandy Camporee, the Transatlantic Council will host the Changing Lives Reception for donors and sponsors who seek to financially support the unparalleled Scouting programs offered by the Council.

 

The evening will include a stand up reception featuring Keynote Speaker Scott Sorrels, D-Day History, and local Normandy food and beverages at the famous Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France during the evening of Friday 19 April 2024.

Tentative Schedule for Changing Lives Reception

1600-1900 Attendees may arrive early to tour the Airborne Museum. Reception volunteers will be there to provide guidance.

1800-1900 Dr. Gregory Pedlow will give a special presentation on D-Day for select attendees.

1830 Museum closes to the public. Attendees continue to arrive.

1900 Reception begins with local Normandy foods and drinks.

1930 Reception Program Begins -- Welcome and Keynote remarks from Scott Sorrels.

2000-2100 Reception continues until 2100

Event specific items will be available on a pre-order basis during registration. Some collector items will be available in limited quantities, so if you want them, be sure to order during the on-line registration process. Pre-ordered items will be available for pick-up when you check in at the camporee in April. Additional quantities of many (but not all!) Normandy Camporee 2024 items will be available in the onsite Trading Post.

- Bayeux British War Cemetery

The Bayeux War Cemetery is the largest Second World War cemetery of Commonwealth soldiers in France, located in BayeuxNormandy. The cemetery contains 4,648 burials, mostly of the Invasion of Normandy. Opposite this cemetery stands the Bayeux Memorial which commemorates more than 1,800 casualties of the Commonwealth forces who died in Normandy and have no known grave.

 

- Caen Memorial/Museum

The Mémorial de Caen is a museum and war memorial in Caen, Normandy, France commemorating World War II and the Battle for Caen. More generally, the museum is dedicated to the history of the twentieth century, mainly focused on the fragility of peace. Its intention is "pay a tribute to the martyred city of the liberation" but also to tell "what was the terrible story of the 20th century in a spirit of reconciliation"

Pre-print Your Lanyard Attachments


Upon check-in, all registered participants will receive a lanyard to wear during the Camporee. This lanyard marks you as a participant of the Normandy Camporee and carries vital contact information in case of emergency. Make check-in go smoother by filling out and printing your attachment beforehand.
