Update to MedRide Contract Termination

On Thursday, Feb. 20, the District Court granted MedRide’s request for a Temporary Restraining Order. This means that for the next 14 days HCPF will not be enforcing MedRide’s termination. Health First Colorado members may use MedRide’s services for the next 14 days. Members who need to schedule NEMT services for dates after March 6, 2025, should be aware that this order does not authorize MedRide to provide services after that date.

HCPF Terminates MedRide’s Contract; How to Help Members

The Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) has terminated its contract with MedRide, LLC - a non-emergent medical transportation (NEMT) provider - effective February 7, 2025. Contract termination means MedRide is no longer allowed to provide NEMT services for Colorado Medicaid.

Reasons for the termination include MedRide’s failure to comply with the Corrective Action Plan the company agreed to in November 2024. The plan directed MedRide to complete credentialing and revalidation, including driver background checks and vehicle inspections, no later than February 1, 2025, which are required for all NEMT providers. MedRide’s failure to revalidate jeopardizes the health, safety, and welfare of Health First Colorado members because HCPF cannot verify the safety of vehicles used, whether those vehicles are insured, or evaluate the criminal background checks of MedRide’s drivers.

More than 100 other NEMT providers have completed revalidation and credentialing and are available to serve members.

Health First Colorado members who used MedRide are encouraged to find a new provider. Here’s how you can help: Guide members to hcpf.colorado.gov/nemtlist where they can find a list of other transportation providers. Or, they can call 800-221-3943 to get help finding an NEMT provider in their area.
