Celebrating Business & Community Growth

St. D's Pizzeria Re-Opened

Chelsea and her team at St. D’s Pizzaria were close to celebrating their one year in operation in April when a terrible fire occurred at their Elizabethtown location. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the property loss was extensive. The St. D’s team worked incredibly hard and has re-opened! At this time service is carry-out only with hours 11am-8pm Tuesday through Saturday. They will deliver to local campgrounds with a minimum $50 order.

AEDC worked with Chelsea in helping to make this business happen and she and her team are special to us and the community. Chelsea thanks her husband Josh, Marlene and Casey for their extraordinary efforts in the property clean up. We are so happy that their delicious food is back available to local residents and visitors!

AEDC Team Retreat

Our team experienced an inspiring retreat at Mt. Van Hovenburg in Lake Placid. We leaned into our strategies outlined for the coming year and enjoyed the world-class facilities. Thanks to the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) staff, we were able to meet with a World Cup skeleton athlete training on site. Adventurous team members also enjoyed the Cliffside Coaster and a hike up Mt. Van Hovenburg following the meetings. AEDC is ready for a productive second half of 2024 and beyond!

Financial Empowerment Training at Ward Lumber

AEDC was delighted to host two days of training in “financial empowerment” for Ward Lumber staff at the Jay and Malone locations. Trainer Steven Schanely led an informative and lively discussion for 30 in-person and remote team members. AEDC is thankful to the incredible Ward Lumber team for the connection and to the United Way of the Adirondacks ALICE fund for underwriting the program. Every household can benefit from sound financial planning and we are committed, as is the United Way and Ward Lumber, to stronger communities built through this work.

In The Community

The AEDC team attended spring events with partners and across the business community. These included sponsoring and exhibiting at the North Country Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, attending the North Country Alliance spring meeting in Lake Placid at the Olympic Jumping Complex, and the Adirondack Park Agency Local Planning Conference in Saranac Lake with a preceding meeting with Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez. We enjoyed excellent learning and sharing opportunities with our great community partners!

Board of Directors Meeting in Clayton

Our Board of Directors and team enjoyed a productive meeting in beautiful Clayton on June 13, 2024. The regional and state efforts to revitalize this community shine bright. Thank you to the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel for hosting us for the third year at this great location.

Adirondack Day

AEDC joined dozens of regional partners to exhibit in the well of the Albany Legislative Office Building on May 6, 2024 showcasing the deep value and work of our partners. Our “Team Adirondack” engaged with legislators and their staff and celebrated legislative champions for the region. We were honored to represent small business at the event.

AEDC staff also were happy to meet with some of the wonderful staff of the Empire State Development Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) program. This work and supporting business owners in certification is an important part of our services.
