High Honors for Two NIA Past Presidents

In recognition of the enormous impact of his decades of leadership and service by NIA Past President Ronald L. King, the Board of Directors renamed the NIA President's Award to the Ronald King Distinguished Service Award. This award is the highest recognition available from NIA and is only given by NIA's President when truly deserved by an individual. The person must have demonstrated outstanding service and accomplishments resulting in tremendous benefits for the association and the industry. NIA President Laura Dover shared members' accolades that Ron King "has lead us to greater heights" and is "an industry titan who just never let go of the industry, and we are so grateful."

President Laura Dover then honored Past President David J. Cox with the Ronald King Distinguished Service Award, citing his dedication and passion for the industry and his work to include mechanical insulation in the carbon reduction discussion. Heartfelt congratulations to two incredible NIA Past Presidents! Read much more in the next issue of NIA News.

OSHA Updates for Members

The National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction is taking place May 6–10. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1,069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022 (BLS data). A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on Fall Hazards and reinforcing the importance of Fall Prevention. Click here for information and resources.

OSHA has released the 2023 injury and illness data collected under the agency's new Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses regulation published July 2023. Read more here.

Confusing Terminology Poll, Round 2

Our poll on confusing terminology continues! If you took the poll earlier this month, please take it again as our platform had some technical difficulties. We will use the data in future training courses.

You can review all these terms in the Insulation Science Glossary. Check it out here.

Which terms are confused most often?
Absorptance, Absorption, Adsorption
Apparent Thermal Conductivity, Apparent Thermal Resistivity
Temperature Cycling, Temperature Limits, Service Temperature Limits
They are all confusing; cover all of them in the new course!
