The Express: February 2025

The ASPR TRACIE Team just released our 2024 Year in Review! Learn more about how we have served as an all-hazards virtual force multiplier during disasters and public health emergencies (for 10 years this September).

This issue of The Express highlights the following updated resources:

Considerations for the Use of Temporary Surge Sites for All-Hazards Incidents

A wide range of incidents (e.g., seasonal illness spikes and mass casualty incidents [MCIs]) may result in a temporary surge of patients seeking healthcare services in a community. The updated Considerations for the Use of Temporary Surge Sites for All-Hazards Incidents describes the major considerations healthcare facility emergency planners should account for when developing patient surge management solutions for a variety of hazards.

Tips for Healthcare Facilities: Assisting Families and Loved Ones after a Mass Casualty Incident

MCIs cause great concern among the loved ones of the wounded, missing, or deceased, who may rush to healthcare facilities, reunification centers, or the incident site to seek information and reunification. The updated resource Tips for Healthcare Facilities: Assisting Families and Loved Ones after a Mass Casualty Incident highlights best practices and issues related to planning for, activating, and operating hospital or healthcare facility Family Support Centers.

Disaster Available Supplies in Hospitals (DASH) Tool Update

ASPR TRACIE recently worked with Healthcare Ready to transition the DASH Tool from the standalone website where it was housed to a new page within the overall ASPR TRACIE website. The move was finalized January 31, 2025; users who try to access it at the former dashtool.org location will automatically be redirected to the new location. All the content and functionality remain the same. We welcome any feedback or questions you may have about the DASH Tool.
